Le club des chômeurs

Club des chômeurs plays in the southern area of Luxembourg. It's about a group of people having one thing in common: no job! The movie deals with the financial, social and other problems jobless people face each day in their life.

What's amazing about the movie is that it really puts you in the environment where it was filmed. The people, the places, all are totally authentic.

Although inspired from the movie "The Full Monty" I would rather put it closer to "The Big Lebowsky". Thierry van Werweke plays his role convincing and professional as always.

Though the movie is a really funny comedy, "Le Club des Chômeurs" still is a true piece of Luxembourgish Culture.

I think it's a shame that people around the world associate Luxemburg with Andy Bausch movies. His flicks display a wrong, disrespectful and silly picture of Luxembourgian culture. I haven't seen all of Mr. Bausch movies, but "Le club des chomeurs" is certainly one of his best, which does not mean much. It still is badly written and directed and the acting comes closer to amateur theater than anything else.

It may have some kind of juvenile charm , which may appeal to a minority, but overall it's just bullshit. Take a look at some of the movies by Pol Cruchten, a more gifted director than Bausch, to get an accurate image of this small, but charming country.
