It's refreshing to see true love between a father and son. Few films show this relationship in true light. Very moving film!!! The Jazz pieces seemed like a character within itself. I'm looking forward to seeing more from these young filmmakers.
Skinner's movie is packed with much more than it promises. It provides an interesting view of the enduring strength of family and the power of love. The special bond between music and father and son.
I liked the enduring strength of family and the healing power of love brought out in this movie. I felt that it was wonderfully written and unforgettable.

I will say that for anyone who has not had a chance to view this film, SHAME ON YOU! (LOL).
All jokes aside, Vacant Lot is unique film in the sense that it possesses a rarity, in regards to black cinema in this day in age. It ACTUALLY HAS A STORY with very REALISTIC characters. I believe in any of the characters presented in this film, u can think of at least one person in your world that is similar. I, fortunately, had a chance to view this film when it "premiered" in Indianapolis...and I still believe that it hasn't been seen by enough people. It's a classic tale of one man struggling 2 find himself, through the folks that are inside of his world. Very enjoyable (and I'm not just saying that because I was BRIEFLY in the film either...LOL). Keep your eyes open for director/writer Sherman "Skee" Skinner. That's a DEFINITE!

I really enjoyed this film. It reminded me of some young black males I know that went through or is going through this same situation. I not only enjoyed the film but also the artwork. The artwork alone was excellent!! The music was perfect for this film, it went right along with what was going on. I would recommend this film to anyone, especially to young black males trying to find themselves. Two thumbs up!!!

From start to finish this films provokes a mood much in line with the triumphs and struggles of the main character. The music is right on time and the images powerful! The characters invite you into their struggles, and you're hooked!
