Since 1992, Cartoon Network has been home to some of the most iconic and influential cartoons of all time. This fan-favorite network featured nostalgic shows that have aged well and are now considered classics to '90s babies and beyond.
When looking at what makes something "classic," any Cartoon Network show aired from the late '90s to the end of the 2000s is fair game. Any series that adults today watched as children back then are prime for the picking. Of course, not everything in Cartoon Network's history has aged well, but many classic Cartoon Network shows have managed to stand the test of time.
Updated on March 26, 2025, by Robbie Robinson: A lot of people have grown up watching shows on Cartoon Network. As streaming services have become the norm, most children these days miss out on the joys of scrolling through the channel guide and waiting for their favorite shows to come on.

During the early 2000s, Cartoon Network boasted an embarrassment of riches in terms of the volume of high-quality shows on its platform. Cult classic series like Teen Titans, The Powerpuff Girls, Codename: Kids Next Door, Samurai Jack, and Ed, Edd, n Eddy were daily fixtures on the network, delivering round-the-clock entertainment to its largely Gen Z audience. Beloved series such as Johnny Test, Total Drama Island, Totally Spies, Chowder and Ben 10 also helped establish Cartoon Network's golden age. While most Cartoon Network series carry a lighthearted, playful tone, there is one series with a hilariously dark origin story that surprisingly became a network favorite — The Grim Adventures of Billy & Mandy.
The Grim Adventures of Billy & Mandy is an animated television series created by Maxwell Atoms for Cartoon Network. The series is centered around the exploits of Billy (Richard Steven Horvitz), an idiotic and happy-go-lucky boy; Mandy (Grey DeLisle), a deadpan,...

Rola Bauer will executive produce Amazon’s “Totally Spies!” and “Pompeii: A Day of Fire” after recently exiting her previous executive role at the company.
Bauer has been added as non-writing executive producer for both live-action series in the wake of her departure as Amazon’s head of Pan-English scripted originals. She left the role in late October to “return to her entrepreneurial roots” as an independent producer.
“Totally Spies!” and “Pompeii: A Day of Fire” are currently in development at Amazon MGM Studios, with both series drawing from existing IP.
The live-action series of “Totally Spies!” draws from the animated series, which is in production on its eighth season. The YA series of the same name will follow stylish best friends Clover, Alex and Sam as they navigate saving the world as international spies, while trying to survive the ups and downs of first year college life, per the official logline.

In a classic episode of "The Simpsons," routine ne'er do well and lovestruck youngster Bart Simpson can't figure out why he's not boyfriend material. "Is it my overbite, the fact that I've been wearing the same clothes day in and day out for the past five years?" Of course, now it's been a bit more than five years given that "The Simpsons" is the longest-running primetime scripted series ever. In fact, the matter of a routine wardrobe stretches across all long-running animated characters, literally stitching their outfits into their iconic look. Just like Lisa Simpson's dress that's shaped like a badminton shuttlecock or Peter Griffin's white shirt and green trousers combo, all of these iconic characters wear the same thing over and over again. But why is that the case? The answer is far more sensible than you think and is a trick that stretches back to some...

There have been so many iconic shows that have defined Cartoon Network over the last three decades, like Dexter's Lab, The Powerpuff Girls, Chowder, Courage the Cowardly Dog, and Adventure Time – just to name a few. However, in terms of action series, there is no name as beloved on the network as Totally Spies. The French show originally ran for six seasons, from 2001 to 2015, but hasn't had a new season in over a decade. That changes soon, as Totally Spies Season 7 has found a new home stateside for 2025.

Cartoons have been running alongside television for nearly as long as the medium has been available, with some decades like the 1980s and 1990s bringing iconic shows that are still called upon fondly years after their release. That said, as of late, the 2000s' cartoon offerings have begun to be considered classics of their own and join the annuls of well-regarded and often-compared-to cartoons that newer releases take inspiration and guidance from. That said, not every cartoon of the 2000s has been widely celebrated, and some of them stand taller among the rest in the minds of viewers.
Some of the greatest '00s shows sadly have no official or complete releases available, meaning that fans have only their memories, well-preserved clips or the rare full-length episode to lean on if they want to relive the experience and share it with others. The movie was directed by Ali Abbas Zafar, who is known for helming films like Sultan, Tiger Zinda Hai, and Bharat. It featured Akshay and Tiger as the main leads; these actors have made a name for themselves in the action space. Although Akshay is far more senior than Tiger, the latter hardly has any actor who does stunts like Shroff. It was a great combination, but unfortunately, the viewers did not...

Totally Spies! reboot with Will Ferrell as producer promises to stay true to the original show's humor and empowering female characters. Series will focus on Alex, Clover, and Sam in college, skipping their high school years, maintaining the cartoon's tone and spirit. Recent live-action adaptations of animated shows have been hit or miss, making fans cautious about the success of Totally Spies! reboot.
If you remember watching Cartoon Network's blocks of anime and anime-inspired shows on weekday evenings in the 2000s, then you probably caught an episode or twelve of Totally Spies! Although I can't recall what played after Totally Spies!, I distinctly remember falling in love with the spyfi series out of the blue. The French anime-influenced show amassed a cult following in France over the course of its 7-season run, and, despite some network-hopping, was pretty popular in the US too. French free TV giant TF1 Group has signed a deal with national industry associations pledging to boost funding for animation films and series and to give more exposure to kids’ cartoons on air.
The agreement, announced at the Annecy animation film festival on Wednesday, will see TF1 commit to earmarking 6 percent of its overall production budget to the funding of French or European original animated works, up from the current quota of 5.2 percent, and to double the volume of kids’ programming carried on free-to-air network Tfx from 150 to 300 hours, with at least 200 hours devoted to animated works. TF1 will implement the changes from 2025 on.
The broadcast group inked the new deal with associations representing writers, producers, directors and distributors across the French industry, as well as with animation production association AnimFrance. TF1 said the new deal significantly improved the group’s rights position for the productions it backs, but did not give further details.

Annecy, France — Banijay Kids & Family, behind hit “Totally Spies!” and “Mr Bean: The Animated Series,” has unveiled first deals on “Froggie,” crowned best TV pilot at early June’s Cartoons on the Bay Pulcinella Awards.
In deals which suggest one way much Annecy-announced business will go, Spanish pubcaster Rtve and top French kids channel Gulli, have acquired rights to Spain and France respectively.
Both are among the biggest and most established players in Western Europe’s children’s entertainment. The deals come as players large and small seek to sever a dependence on streaming platform buys in favour of tried-and-tested traditional outlets such as state-backed operators and big commercial players. Gulli, for example, forms part of France’s M6 Group.
The buys rep first deals unveiled on “Froggie,” produced by Paris-based studio Monello Productions, part of Banijay Kids & Family), and Barcelona’s Pikkukala and presented to success at last September’s Cartoon Forum.

My Adventures with Superman is the Man of Steel's first new animated series in decades, and it looks a bit different from what some might expect. Seemingly combining superhero action with the slice of life interactions between Lois Lane and Clark Kent, it's a very different kind of adaptation for the character. That's on top of the animation, which puts it more in line with One-Punch Man than the classic Superman: The Animated Series.
For this reason, many are wondering if the new Superman cartoon is actually an anime. After all, it wouldn't look out of place on streaming services such as Crunchyroll, especially given Superman and Lois' designs. The answer to that question, however, is a bit more complicated than a simple yes or no, even if it leans more toward the latter.

Paris -- French animated movie "Totally Spies" will get a designer makeover with fashion icon Karl Lagerfeld set to lend his voice to the film, the film's producer Marathon Media confirmed Wednesday.
Pascal Jardin's animated action film based on the hit TV series will feature Lagerfeld as the story's "bad guy," Fabu. "Spies" will mark the first time Lagerfeld has lent his voice to an animated title, though Lagerfeld's fashion line Chanel has been ubiquitous on the big screen recently from Jan Kounen's Festival de Cannes closing-night title "Coco Chanel & Igor Stravinsky" to Anne Fontaine's Audrey Tautou starrer "Coco Before Chanel," which will be released stateside in September.
"Spies" is co-produced by Marathon Media alongside France Telecom co-financing powerhouse Studio 37 and Italian shingle Mikado. The 8 million ($11.3 million) film will hit Gallic screens on July 22 via Mars Distribution.
