Lindsay Lohan to Lead 'Count My Lies' Hulu Drama From 'This Is Us' Showrunners
Image
Lindsay Lohan's career is about to take on a new trajectory that will continue the resurgence that began for the actress a few years ago. Lohan has already turned Christmas rom-coms into hits for Netflix, and now she is setting her sights on working with another streaming service to headline her first scripted TV series.

Per The Hollywood Reporter, Lohan will lead the Hulu drama series Count My Lies, which is based on the novel by Sophie Stava. The show comes from 20th Television and a pair that knows about their fair share of drama, Isaac Aptaker and Elizabeth Berger, who took on the duty of being showrunners on NBC's critically acclaimed fan favorite, This Is Us. In addition to starring in the series, Lohan will also serve as an executive producer.

Lindsay Lohan To Star In ‘Count My Lies’ Series In Works At Hulu From ‘This Is Us’ EPs Isaac Aptaker & Elizabeth Berger
Image
Exclusive: In her first TV series starring role, Lindsay Lohan is set to headline and executive produce Count My Lies, a drama in development at Hulu. The project, based on the recently published novel by Sophie Stava, comes from former This Is Us executive producers/co-showrunners Isaac Aptaker and Elizabeth Berger as well as 20th Television where the duo and their The Walk-Up Company are under an overall deal.

In Count My Lies, written by Aptaker and Berger, when compulsive liar Sloane Caraway fibs her way into a nanny position for the gorgeous and charismatic Violet and Jay Lockhart, it seems she’s finally landed her dream job. But little does Sloane know, she’s just entered a household brimming with secrets that are about to explode — with potentially catastrophic consequences for all.

I hear Lohan is expected to play Violet. She executive produces alongside Aptaker, Berger and Scott Morgan of The Walk-Up Company.

Parent Traps Lindsay Lohan Was Asked by Disney CEO About Her "Twin"
Image
Apparently, Lindsay Lohans acting was so good that Michael Eisner was fooled into thinking she had a twin sister on the set of 1998s The Parent Trap. Lohan portrayed twins Hallie Parker and Annie James in the romantic comedy. And at the films premiere almost 30 years ago, the then CEO of Disney actually asked Lohan where her sister was when they bumped into one another. Lohan recalled surprisingly responding to Eisner when she was only 12 years old while appearing on Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen. Lohan said:

"I was so young, I dont even know how I thought to say this, but Ill never forget what I said. I said, Well you shouldve paid me double, because I dont have one."

The Parent Trap was Lohans first feature film, which came on the heels of the child actress performing in a number of commercials and appearing on the...

12 Actors Who Appeared In Multiple Disney Channel Original Movies (Not Just Sequels)
Image
Many Disney Channel actors have starred in multiple Disney Channel Original Movies (DCOMs). There is a lot of actor overlap between DCOMs, with actors often appearing in different roles or guest-starring in other major franchises. Some notable actors with multiple appearances in DCOMs include Raven-Symoné, Brenda Song, Corbin Bleu, Selena Gomez, Demi Lovato, and Dove Cameron.

Several actors have starred in multiple Disney Channel TV shows, but many have also starred in multiple Disney Channel original movies. A Disney Channel Original Movie (Dcom) is a TV movie that was distributed/released by and originally aired on Disney Channel. For this reason, films like The Lizzie McGuire Movie and Hannah Montana: The Movie, despite being based on Disney Channel shows, aren't considered DCOMs, as they were originally released in theaters. The theatrical release rule also applies to High School Musical 3: Senior Year, which was released in theaters.

The Parent Trap Cast - Where Are They Now?
Image
Lindsay Lohan's breakout role in The Parent Trap launched her into stardom, leading to a successful acting career and even a brief music career. Natasha Richardson, who played Elizabeth James, tragically passed away in 2009. Elaine Hendrix, who portrayed the villainous Meredith Blake, has continued to act in numerous films and TV shows, including her recent role as Alexis Carrington in the Dynasty remake.

After more than 25 years, The Parent Trap still holds up today, especially due to its phenomenal cast. A remake of the 1961 film of the same name, The Parent Trap (1998), directed by Nancy Meyers, tells the story of Hallie Parker and Annie James, two identical twins who were separated at birth by their divorced parents, Nick Parker and Elizabeth James. The twins have lived across the pond from one another their whole lives — Hallie in Napa with their father and Annie in London with their mother — and thus,...

Who Played Lindsay Lohan's Double In The Parent Trap (& Where She Is Now)
Image
Lindsay Lohan does not have a twin sister, and she used a body double for some scenes in The Parent Trap. Erin Mackey was Lohan's body double for scenes where the characters interacted with each other. Mackey has had success in both film and Broadway, starring in productions like Wicked and Annie.

Contrary to some popular rumors, Lindsay Lohan never had a twin sister and used a double for some of The Parent Trap scenes. The New York native starred as both Halle and Anna in the 1998 remake of the film alongside Dennis Quaid and Natasha Richardson. To differentiate the characters, Anna had long hair, which she later cut, and spoke in a British accent. It is always fun to see a movie coming up with creative ways of portraying fictional twins or doubles, especially before CG faces and replacements were common.

The Parent Trap was Lohan's first film role,...

Lindsay Lohan's 10 Best Movies Ranked
Image
Lindsay Lohan was one of the biggest young stars of the 2000s, but which of Lohan's movies is the best? Starting as a prominent child actor before growing into a bona fide box office sensation, Lohan starred in a string of big hits throughout the late 1990s and well into the first decade of the 2000s. Most known for playing girl-next-door teens and hopeless romantics, Lohan showed off a surprising range of talent even when starring in movies that fell far below critical expectations. Though she's been a celebrity since childhood, Lohan's greatest strength has always been her affable and down-to-earth screen presence.

As is usually the case with child stars, Lohan's career has not been a straight ascent, and the former A-lister went through a rough patch as she entered adulthood that saw much of her working output decline. However, she has seen a resurgence of late, and Lohan's...

What Happened To Lindsay Lohan After Mean Girls
Image
Lindsay Lohan's career and personal life underwent a series of volatile shifts after she starred in Mean Girls. The former child star began acting in 1992 at the age of 7 with two guest appearances on the popular kid's show Sesame Street. Lohan got her big break from Disney's 1998 remake of The Parent Trap which marked her feature film debut. Lohan went on to star in a number of culturally-influential Disney movies such as Get A Clue, Confessions of a Teenage Drama Queen, and Freaky Friday before playing protagonist Cady Heron in Mean Girls.

Mean Girls is considered one of Lohan's most defining roles of her acting career. The teen comedy movie became a cultural phenomenon in the early 2000s and instantly became a cult classic. Mean Girls, directed by Mark Waters, was based on an original screenplay written by Rosalind Wiseman and iconic former Saturday Night Live cast member Tina Fey.

Where the Malcolm in the Middle Cast Is Today
Image
"Yes. No. Maybe. I don’t know. Can you repeat the question?"

At the dawn of the 21st century, Malcolm in the Middle debuted on Fox. The popular, dark-humored television show — centered around the maladjusted Wilkerson family — represents the traditional middle-class American family home, equipped with its own set of problems.

Created by Linwood Boomer, it stars Jane Kaczmarek as the mother Lois, Bryan Cranston as the father Hal, and their five sons: Francis (Christopher Kennedy Masterson), Reese (Justin Berfield), Malcolm (Frankie Muniz), Dewey (Erik Per Sullivan), and Jamie (Lukas Rodriguez). The show’s titular character, Malcolm, an adolescent genius with an Iq of 165 and a photographic memory, consistently breaks the fourth wall, via both voice-over narration and addressing the viewer directly on camera, in an attempt to be more relatable.

After attracting widespread praise from critics and audiences alike, Malcolm in the Middle remained a popular but polarizing show...

11 Beloved Family Movies Turning 20 In 2023
Image
Twenty years ago, tween-girl cinema thrived. Hilary Duff, Lindsay Lohan, and Amanda Bynes kicked off the junior rom-com eras -- bringing their Disney and Nickelodeon fans along for the ride. Big-screen coming-of-age stories, family sagas, and whimsical made-for-television movies defined youth culture in 2003. Pop music became more accessible to children. Bright colors and Y2K fashion arrived in full force. Kids were paying attention to the media and products advertised to them.

As a person who turned nine in '03, I vividly remember this era of family films. They were hopeful, playful, and rife with young characters seeking adventures. I'll never forget when my sister and I saw our first movies on DVD instead of VHS: "The Lizzie McGuire Movie" and "What a Girl Wants." For millennial fans, Hilary Duff's Italian excursion has been on repeat as a literal soundtrack of our lives. Amanda Bynes' British battle of the debutantes sharpened our rebellious side.

Home Before Dark Review: Crime Drama with Kids
Home Before Dark (2020)
This Home Before Dark review contains no spoilers.

Kids have been solving crimes in movies, books and TV shows for a long time, from Nancy Drew, Harriet The Spy and The Secret Seven to Lindsay Lohan vehicle Get A Clue. The major difference with Apple TV+’s 10-part new crime drama series Home Before Dark, is that our 9-year-old roving reporter, Hilde Lisko, who gets embroiled in solving a kidnapping and murder case, is based on an actual 9-year-old – Hilde Lysiak – who really did report on crime at such a young age.

What results is a slightly uncomfortable genre mix of kid-centric wish fulfillment and crime drama about a child-killer, complete with the dark color palette of a grown up murder series. Jon M. Chu who made the excellent Crazy Rich Asians directs the opening episode setting the tone somewhere between Press Gang and All The President’s Men (which young...

Halloween 2017: Siblings & Scares Double Feature – Mom’S Got A Date With A Vampire and Hocus Pocus
[To get you into the spooky spirit, the Daily Dead team is spotlighting double features that we think would be fun to watch this Halloween season. Check here for more double feature recommendations and other Halloween 2017 coverage.]

There’s nothing quite like an outside threat to bring a family together, especially when that threat is of the undead variety. Siblings may not always get along, but when your sister’s soul is sought by a coven of witches, or when your mom is eyed as an eternal bride by a coffin-dwelling creep, it’s time to take those Sister Sledge lyrics to heart and become a family that can overcome anything—including wicked spells and sharp fangs. Set on respective fateful nights where the future of a homestead hangs in the balance and its up to siblings to save it, Mom’s Got a Date with a Vampire and Hocus Pocus are family-friendly films that make for a great double feature during the Halloween season.

Perhaps the less-known of the two films, Mom’s Got a Date with a Vampire will likely ring a nostalgic bell for...

Dancing With the Stars Switch-Up: Who Were the Best and Worst New Couples?
Keoikantse Motsepe in Dancing with the Stars (2005)
A few short weeks from now, when Paige VanZant or Wanyá Morris or Nyle Dimarco hoist that Mirrorball trophy in the air, Monday’s Switch-Up edition of Dancing With the Stars likely won’t be one of the Season 22 memories flashing before their eyes.

Although the traditional partner swap has worked wonders in past seasons, most of Monday’s mixed-up duos suffered from lack of chemistry, communication or — in a few disconcerting cases — proper choreography. (When TVLine compiles its year-end Best and Worst lists, you can expect to see Keo and Len’s Viennese Waltz debate somewhere in the “Most Cringeworthy Moments” section.

Nathan Fillion and Stana Katic in Castle (2009)
Is Castle Season 9 only in the midst of taking shape?

On Monday morning, ABC confirmed that, due to reported cost-cutting, neither co-lead Stana Katic nor longtime cast member Tamala Jones were being asked back for the fall, in the event of renewal. Katic issued a statement here, while Jones followed with her own reaction below:

I’ve had so much fun playing the wonderful and unfiltered ‘Lanie’ over the past eight seasons. I will greatly miss the cast and crew — it’s been a privilege getting to work with this incredibly hard working group of people. Thank you to ABC...

Castle Shocker: Stana Katic's Dismissal Leaves Series Creator 'Heartbroken'
Nathan Fillion and Stana Katic in Castle (2009)

“Heartbroken,” Marlowe shared in a short, not-sweet tweet on Monday morning. “There are no words.”

The writer/producer tacked on the hashtag #nmc, presumably shorthand for “No More Caskett” — as in the long-running procedural’s root-for coupling of novelist Richard Castle and NYPD captain Kate Beckett.

Mfr's Monday Night Wrestling Column: Shane O'Mac Is Back! Mania Looks Whack!
So, as you might have noticed, I've missed a couple of weeks. True to form, since I mentioned my on-again/off-again love/hate relationship with pro wrestling in my first column, I couldn't even work up enough inspiration to follow up my initial column on the subject. I was going to write about it every Wednesday night throughout the Road to WrestleMania, and my interest wasn't even sustained long enough to make it to Week 2.

Until tonight...

I caught some of last night's WWE Fastlane pay-per-view, and I had some interest in how Raw would follow things up. Still, I was just going to wait until my wife went to sleep (we're currently watching HBO's The Wire. Yes, I know. We're very, very behind), then skim through Raw on my DVR. But then I suddenly got a series of texts from one of my best friends that made me have...

Gotham, Episode 1.18, “Everyone Has A Cobblepot” pits Gordon against the corrupt Gcpd
Gotham Season 1, Episode 18: ‘Everyone Has A Cobblepot’

Written by Megan Mostyn-Brown

Directed by Bill Eagles

Aired Mondays at 8pm (Et) on Fox

This week’s episode of Gotham follows up “Red Hood” just after Alfred’s wounding, which brings a reunion between Gordon and Bruce. But instead of progressing Bruce’s story, this episode prolongs their separation again for another week so that Gordon can make some genuine headway in establishing some order within the Gcpd. This has been an ongoing process for Gordon in making a change to the corrupt system, and his effect on it has been gradual, as every time Gordon thinks he has made a significant achievement, he finds that he has only cured a symptom and not the cause. This has been a beat that Gotham has repeated a few times during this second half of the season, and it’s almost to the point of being overly repetitive,...

The investigation into Mr. Green’s murder took a sharp turn down Wtf Avenue on Sunday’s Downton Abbey as a Bates was unexpectedly placed behind bars — but not the one you might have expected.

RelatedDownton Abbey Recap: Life’s Ruff

Is it possible? Could Anna really have pushed Mr. Green to his death? The witness to his murder certainly didn’t hesitate to pick her out of the line-up, but I remain unconvinced. Turning Anna into a killer seems like a shark over which even Downton wouldn’t dare to jump.

Still, things aren’t looking too great...

Of course, getting to Mexico was only half the battle.

Lindsay Lohan
Lindsay Lohan will appear on 'Watch What Happens Live'. Let's plan the games!
Lindsay Lohan
For a very specific demographic, the ultimate news was just announced: Lindsay Lohan will appear on Watch What Happens Live! The episode will air next Thursday, April 17, EW has confirmed.

“This one is a long time coming. We love Lindsay and plan to celebrate the s@%# out of her!” host/executive producer Andy Cohen told E!.

Fans of the show know this has the potential to be quite the memorable episode. Not only is the live program proudly booze-soaked (a tradition they will obviously (right?) forgo for the evening), but the program’s cheeky charm thrives on Cohen asking the guests just-this-side-of-inappropriate questions.

Castle season 6 episode 7 review: Like Father, Like Daughter
Review Laura Akers 9 Nov 2013 - 13:51

Castle gets weirdly Freudian this week. Here's Laura's review...

This review contains spoilers.

6.7 Like Father, Like Daughter

We’ve been building toward this week’s episode for a while now.

It’s not just a matter of the recent spat between Castle and Alexis over the ubiquitous Pi which then led to Alexis telling her dad to give her some space. Nor Alexis’s insistence that she’s ready to move out of the familial home into one of her own (well, with Pi, that is). Like Father, Like Daughter also dealt with the hinted-at coolness between Beckett and Alexis, a recurrent theme in series 4 when Beckett was shot, making the teenager forcefully aware of the danger her father’s relationship with the detective puts him in.

In this week’s episode, Alexis is all but forced to go to her father for assistance...

Castle season 6 episode 6 review: Get A Clue
Review Laura Akers 4 Nov 2013 - 06:58

Maturity and adulthood are the themes of this week's Castle. Here's Laura's review of Get A Clue...

This review contains spoilers.

6.6 Get a Clue

In last week’s episode, we saw the usual tension between Castle’s far-flung imagination and Beckett’s no-nonsense explanation. In most episodes, the truth is either somewhere in the middle between Castle’s theory of the crime and Beckett’s (usually favoring Beckett’s version) or clearly unrelated to both. In the first case, this allows Castle to maintain his position as crazy narrative smith without invalidating Beckett’s more pedestrian explanation (or vice versa). In the latter, both are clearly wrong, meaning neither is actually right, which likewise maintains the balancing act between two very strong characters.

What almost never happens is that Castle pretty much nails it out of the gate. Well, okay, at first he says...

'Castle' recap: Indiana Jones and the Da Vinci national treasure code in 'Get a Clue'
Could this be Castle's favorite case ever? The "Get a Clue" episode of "Castle" brings shades of "Indiana Jones," "The Da Vinci Code" and "National Treasure" to a New York murder. Is there a buried treasure? A vast conspiracy?

Find out in this recap.

Discord in the house of Pi

But before Castle can have his treasure-hunting fun, he has to deal with the unpleasantness of his daughter and her fruitarian beau.

Alexis and Pi have moved in together and are happily living the Bohemian lifestyle, dumpster-diving for furniture and chasing bees for profit. Of course, Castle isn't too happy about the fact that his daughter has moved in with an idiot.

Too bad for Castle that this is half about Alexis feeling the need to punish her dad for diving into an engagement with Beckett. Because Castle didn't wholeheartedly approve of Pi (and seriously, who would?), Alexis has now...

Castle Recap: Half-Dimes Show
Nathan Fillion and Stana Katic in Castle (2009)
This week’s episode of Castle wasn’t an invaluable bag of half-dimes, but it wasn’t a sack of coal either.

I open with that distinction because it seems as if all-day Monday, ever since the episode aired in Canada, I was tweeted at about how “crappy,” “Jump the Shark”-caliber and “ham-handed” this week’s episode would be. As such, despite the best efforts, a person goes into a viewing experience with certain (in this case, negative) expectations.

‘Castle’ : Empty Nest Syndrome
[This is a review of Castle Season 6, Episode 6. There will be Spoilers.]

-

There’s nothing like the end of October to inspire a scary murder mystery story and nothing quite more frightening than realizing – as a parent – that you no longer have the controlling influence in your child’s life. In ‘Get A Clue,’ Castle manages to blend the two with a fair level of competency, though for as much as the Alexis (Molly Quinn) angle was hyped for this episode, it really serves more as bookends than part of the main plot itself.

In point of fact, the opening sequence is little more than what has already transpired in the awkward triangle between Castle ...

Castle Round Table: "Time Will Tell"
Rick Castle finally got the time traveling killer he'd been hoping for in "Time Will Tell."

Below, TV Fanatics Jim Garner, Chandel Charles and Christine Orlando are joined by Angie of the Castle Fan Forum the 12th to debate time travel aspects of this episode, Alexis' future, and what we'd name Castle and Beckett's future children...

-------------------------------------------

Do you believe in the time traveling killer or a more logical explanation?

Jim: I loved that this week's case could actually have a non-logical explanation. After five years of crazy theories, Rick was due for a win - and what a great one it was!

Chandel: I would like to believe in a more logical explanation, but a little imagination never hurt anybody.

Angie: What I love about Castle is that there is always a logical explanation with just the hint that it maybe-kinda-coulda been something else, which is how I usually approach these kinds of mysteries.
