Great series. But as usual, too short-lived.

MTV has a long history of canceling any good series wayyy too soon. (With the exception of Beavis & Butt-head, and Daria.)

This was a great series. I've never seen a combination comedy / spy adventure series before. The way they never took anything seriously (and always told everyone outright that they were spies) was hilarious.

I wish there had been more than 6 episodes.

If you're lucky, you can find RealVideo files of all 6 episodes. MTV should release it, but MTV never does the smart thing. And people would rather watch pulp junk like The Real World anyway...

Step aside James Bond, Agent #1 and 2 are here to give espionage a new name!

Agent #1 and Agent #2 will probably hide behind those code names forever, but the action will never stop. This animated, fresh-talking MTV spy series will have you laughing non-stop as it takes you from one vanity-hungry villain chase to another. It's funny, it borders on rude (sexual undertones, minors be warned) but the dialogue is tasteful yet slick. You will fall in love with Agent #1 and #2... I know I have!

Great series....

I loved this series but it did have a few weird moments - especially that S & M Count from Paris who with a "acrobat trained" mistress/former educator of the spies themselves who stole some weird bug...

I really laughed with that little quote noted above ("The sneaky Miss Von Schnickle..."). Also, the one in Spain with the Michael Jackson look alike (the Immaculate Sewer Nuns of Pamplona... that's another weird thing).

I really like their waitress, Mac and their chief, Helena Troy, and her second, Carlos (who never speaks a word).

I really wish that the series would return.

What Austin Powers should have been

This is a brilliant satire of every spy film you've ever seen. At the same time it also skewers Hollywood and the fashion industry.

Now I'm not a fan of movies based on cartoons, but Spy Groove is crying out for a real-life adaptation starring Matt and Ben and an A-list (and B-list) of guest stars including Hugh Grant, Steve Buscemi, Charlize Theron, Gloria Gaynor, Jennifer Love Hewitt, and Ivanna Trump. BTW if this flies, I want an executive producer credit :)

I've read criticism of the animation style on the Internet, but if you grew up with the original Spider-man cartoons or the various Filmation series (Tarzan and The Lone Ranger) you'll love the style and get the joke.

The only reason I'm writing this review is because I see user comments here mentioning six episodes. Well I've seen reference made on the Internet to thirteen episodes, and while I can't confirm that, I can say there are at least twelve episodes (and I've got the tape to prove it.)

Try it. Even if you don't like the witty dialogue and pop culture references, it's only a half-an-hour.

One Groovy Show

This was a hilarious TV show that wasn't on for long enough... Think James Bond gone MTV, and you'll have this show in a nutshell. It's more or less your average spy show (spiffy spies saving the world, an evil arch-nemesis, cool gadgets, scantily clad women--evil and otherwise), but not one that takes itself very seriously. Along with Daria, it's one of the better shows to come from MTV, and it's a pity that it was only on air for such a short time. If you ever get an opportunity to watch it, though, I certainly recommend it.
