      Exposing the shocking truth!!!!

"The Canadian Conspiracy" is one of the funniest television programs I have ever seen....and fortunately it's currently posted on YouTube so you can see it as well.

The show is supposedly an American exposee on the Canadians and their evil plans to dominate and control America...through movies, television, music and even...Trivial Pursuit!!! It's hosted by American newsman, Edwin Newman, and features dozens of interviews with Canadian entertainers...who either completely deny that there's any conspiracy, act as if they have no idea what they are being asked or, in the case of Eugene Levy, a willingness to talk...if he's offered protection...and a movie deal!!

To say that this is tongue-in-cheek goes without saying. In many ways, it's the forebearer of wonderful mockumentaries by Christopher Guest...and every bit as clever. The show really deserves to be seen and is a hoot throughout, eh?

Ten out of ten; absolutely correct on all counts; thanks Seth for recommending this

One of the single most troubling things about modern entertainment in America is the abundance of Canadian infiltrators. Once upon a time, it was a simple enough thing to keep them at bay. After all, that line in the sand we call the northern border used to mean something.

But in the last few decades, that border has started to mean less and less. People like John Candy, Alanis Morissette, Dan Akroyd, William Shatner, Ryan Gosling, Ryan Reynolds, Cory Monteith, and Christopher Plummer are just some of the people who've invaded American pop culture from up north. The aforementioned John Candy was so popular that when he died, his funeral procession blocked up traffic in already traffic-ridden Los Angeles.

The most insidious part of this covert invasion is that it can be almost impossible to tell the difference between a Canadian and a red blooded American. The only way to know for sure is when they start pronouncing about as a boot.

As we all should know, the only way to counter the Canadian cultural invasion is to build protectionist policies of our own. Pour money into building up the film and music industries in places like Missouri, Alabama, Georgia, Texas, and the Carolinas. Encourage people to embrace their Americaness.

This is the only way to counter the Canadian threat. We must Make American Comedy Funny Again! Yeehaw!

Wish there had been a sequel.

The Canadian Conspiracy was a great satirical-type comedy played serious, which not only entertained but was thought provoking, but not to too deep a level. I really wish there had been a sequel a number of years later when Wayne Gretzky went to Los Angeles and Mike Myers et al began their "invasion" of the U.S. The possibilities then would have been endless.

I thought this was for real?

I will never forget watching this show. I was still in highschool and my mother and I laughed and laughed when we saw it. Everytime they showed pictures of Canada it was snowing, people were in igloos, that kind of thing. As it turns out the biggest laugh we got happened the next day. My mom was talking to one of her hairdressing regulars and brought up the show - the regular immediately jumped in to say - Isn't that terrible what the Canadians are doing to the Americans - I got so frustrated seeing that was going on I turned it off.
