The game was going to be a video game adaption of the Spriggan manga. Due to licensing issues, the developers went to an original concept. The original concept for the game was more serious and was going to be about a human soul who is trapped inside of a robot in an ancient ruin. It was later changed into a comical dreams motif. However, it was going to be a action horror game based on the two of the original concept arts of Moos (which were originally fearsome werewolves) and Huepow (who is originally a monster that devours enemies and displays their inflated lifeless corpses after draining their powers).
