Not worst movie ever, because it contained the immortal line "That thing makes Godzilla look like a pussy!" However, the effect were banal, there were too many plot cliches, and the acting was not merely wooden, it was petrified.
But, it was funnily bad, in ways that could easily be pointed out. Thus, I would have picked this for Mike and the Bots to abuse instead of "Overdrawn At the Memory Bank," this week's MST3K offering.
Besides the above line about Godzilla, I liked the one deviation from cliche that this flick offered. At one point the commander of the elite ranger unit "T-force" describes how dangerous the mission to blast the monster will be and one sensible soul actually has the temerity to back out of the suicide mission - and they let him quit! I loved it. Of course, there was an eager young lieutenant right there to volunteer to wield the dropout's "Hellblazer," of which the new cannon fodder stated "I've studied its designs and protocols." Gotta love total misuse of the language in scenes where the moviemaker's actually trying to be serious.
Please - make this movie the next MST3K release in theaters.

Very interesting product from South Korea, a.k.a. REPTILIAN is equally good as it is bad. Far out story line with unimaginative dialogue. Very good F/X holds your interest. Hostile invading aliens reanimate a dormant giant lizard-like creature named Yonggary to eradicate humanity and take control of Earth. Super cool alien spacecraft and a prehistoric monster should be more than enough to keep Sci-Fi fans happy.
Overview of notable cast members: Harrison Young, Donna Philipson, Karl Calhoun, Dan Cashman and Richard B. Livingston. The monster is handsomely detailed and fun to watch.

It's ONLY good for monster fans. Any one else will think it's a big pile-o-cheese. So if you don't like monster movies, don't watch it. For me, though, it was the most fun I've had with a movie for a long time. Really bad acting, really great monster battles, and some of the lines the actors have to say are... odd. It's most assuredly not the best monster movie out there, but it's a great party move.
"2001 Yonggary" is one of those films so bad that becomes funny to watch. The plot is a lame combination of "Gozilla" with many sci-fi from the 50 's in an Ed Wood style. The story and the screenplay are ridiculous with the most of the situations dumb and messy. The dialogues are stupid and the characters are incredibly dumb. The acting is awful and the special effects are laughable. The question is how can a producer invest money in this lame mediocrity? My vote is two.
Title (Brazil): "Réptil" ("Reptile")

This is by far one of the worst sci-fi flicks of all time. The special effects were so glaringly artificial I might as well have been playing a computer game instead of watching a movie. The writing and acting are gratingly amateurish, in fact, I have seen student films that are more professionally executed. Reptilian and his alien cohorts look like wasted refugees from "Power Rangers". If this pops up on the Sci-Fi Channel again avoid at all costs.

- TriviaAlthough this was a South Korean film production, the cast was made up of Occidentals in the hopes of getting a very lucrative U.S. release. Even with a re-release with upgraded special effects and a new title ("Reptilian"), the film only achieved a U.S. release on home video and some cable TV showings.
