The Pursuit Of Love executive producer Charles Collier has revealed that his production outfit Open Book and Moonage Pictures are planning to make three seasons of the buzzy Lily James period drama.

The adaptation of Nancy Mitford’s classic novel is a co-production between the BBC and Amazon, and Collier told a Mipcom Online+ event on Monday that his aim is also to bring the author’s two sequel books to the screen.

“It’s part of a trilogy of books. We hope to bring the books to life in future seasons, so The Pursuit Of Love Season 2 would be called Love In A Cold Climate based on a brilliant book by Nancy. The third book would become our third season, Don’t Tell Alfred,” he explained.

Exclusive: Downton Abbey and Baby Driver star Lily James is to front an Emily Mortimer-penned and directed adaptation of Nancy Mitford’s classic novel The Pursuit of Love for BBC One.

The British public broadcaster has ordered a three-part series based on the 1945 book from BBC Studios-backed Moonage Pictures and Open Book, the Charles Collier-founded joint venture between BBC Studios, Original Talent and Tavistock Wood.

The Pursuit of Love is the first book in a trilogy about an upper-class English family between the First and Second World Wars. The comedy deals with issues of growing up and falling in love among the privileged and eccentric.

The Pursuit of Love follows the travails of the Radlett family, focusing on Linda, the most beautiful and wayward Radlett daughter, played by James, who falls first for a stuffy Tory politician, then an ardent Communist, and finally a French duke named Fabrice,...

"Les Miserables" Director Tom Hooper and composer Mychael Danna will be honored at the 24th annual Palm Springs International Film Festival. Hooper is set to get the Sonny Bono Visionary Award while Danna will receive the Frederick Loewe Award for Film Composing. Both will join previous announced honorees -- the cast of Argo, Richard Gere, Sally Field, Helen Hunt, Helen Mirren, Naomi Watts and Robert Zemeckis. The Festival runs January 3-14.

Hooper appointed to British Film Institute's board of governors following Oscars and Baftas success with The King's Speech

This time last year, Tom Hooper was a little-known film-maker responsible for 2004 South African drama Red Dust and 2009 football-themed comedy drama The Damned United. Four Oscars later for The King's Speech and the Oxford-educated director finds himself elevated to film-making royalty after he was appointed to the British Film Institute'sboard of governors.

Greg Dyke, the board's chairman, said Hooper would be joining at a crucial time for UK film. The BFI has just taken over responsibility for promoting British movies from the UK Film Council, which the government axed last year.

"The impact of Tom's work has been hugely significant for the British film industry and The King's Speech will undoubtedly go down in history as one of Britain's most successful films," said Dyke. "We are absolutely delighted to have Tom join the BFI board.

He may have lost out in the Bafta race, but Tom Hooper has come good at the Academy Awards, where he won the best director Oscar.

Hooper was one of 12 Academy Award nominations for The King's Speech, and he was up against major Hollywood heavyweights – the Coen brothers, David Fincher, David O Russell and Darren Aronofsky – but The King's Speech's irresistible momentum swept him towards the top prize.

Hooper, 38, worked his way through the ranks of British TV programme-making before establishing himself with the two-part Love in a Cold Climate in 2001. He went on to direct Prime Suspect 6, Elizabeth I and the award-winning Longford, starring Jim Broadbent.

Before The King's Speech, his best known feature film was The Damned United, the story of Brian Clough's ill-fated reign as Leeds United manager.

The odds are that Tom Hooper won't be named best director this Sunday. What that will make him, by default, is the year's most discreet. For although the cast, composer and writer of The King's Speech seem shoo-ins – and the film itself may well win best picture – Hooper himself looks likely to lose out.

WELLINGTON, New Zealand -- James Caan will head the cast of Castle of Lies, an $8.3 million period drama, the highest-budgeted independent New Zealand film ever made. With shooting slated to begin at the end of the month, Castle of Lies is described as an "erotic and devastating" love story based on the life of William Larnach, a politician who built New Zealand's first castle before fatally shooting himself in Parliament in 1898 after financial ruin and a devastating affair between an ex wife and his son. Caan will play Larnach, while Rosamund Pike (Love in a Cold Climate), who next will be seen in the James Bond installment Die Another Day, will play his ex-wife Connie. Luke Mably (28 Days Later, Uprising) will play her secret lover.
