Fun Comedy Short With Olive Borden

The Inventors is a fun comedy short from 1934. It's mostly notable for being one of the last screen appearances of actress Olive Borden.

The story begins when comedians Stoopnagle and Budd (Wilbur Budd Hulick and Frederick Chase Taylor) go to all girls college to give a lecture. There they meet a lovely young teacher Miss Brown (Olive Borden) and a group of stuffy old professors. Their lecture which is full of corny jokes is a big hit with the female students but not with the old professors. Then the duo cause a commotion at lunch when they teach the girls how to curl anchovies. This involves having a beautiful young woman run in circles! Stoopnagle and Budd are asked to leave the school but before they do they decide to create a "Stoopenstein" monster for the girls.

The Inventors has a plenty of laughs and a LOT of beautiful young starlets. Stoopnagle and Budd are funny but they really aren't very good actors. Olive Borden gives a delightful performance but sadly she would die penniless in 1947. I'd really like to see this short released on DVD soon.
