Keeping an eye on this director is something you do because the future is Bright for this one. This movie is daring, risk-taking, and provides dark impact for filming experience to the viewer. This is one of those films that I would consider a complete package because the directing production, the acting even the cinematic shots, they all fit perfectly. I definitely recommend this film because it's new its storyline is creative and the finished product is meaningful. It's definitely one of those films where you're just kind of hanging out at the house with your partner enjoying the night. It's almost a mood setting movie!
This film for sure gets two thumbs up.

I thought this might be a "rap" film only but was suprised by it's behind the scenes look inside the music business, it's great story and performances by Nelly and the rest of the cast. Director Murray, is clearly in charge of the material.....can't wait to see what he does next! Excellent!
OMG, I LOVED this movie!!!!! I happen to catch it on VH1 last night and I stayed up until 1:30am to make sure I saw the end of it. At first I was somewhat skeptical about how good it would be, but as the movie went on, it just got better and better and I knew that I had to watch the whole thing. I plan on finding it on DVD soon so that I can let all my friends see it. I don't want to give away the plot to people who hasn't seen it, but I will say that this is a wonderful, well-acted, never boring movie. I loved the actor who plated Erik, he has talent and I hope to see him in more movies. So if you can, please see this movie. But beware there is a lot of violence, but not so much that you can't enjoy it.
Snipes is a movie that suffers from sloppy storytelling and overall uninspiredness, but it held my attention even if not the most engaging.
There are several issues present throughout. The plot isn't necessarily bad, but it's pretty convoluted and not in a clever way. The film seems aware of how much the viewer would need to know to understand the plot, and thus tries to compensate by throwing several brief flashbacks to relevant information from earlier in the movie. It works in terms of making things clear, but feels very lazy. The movie explains itself a lot but I never felt particular interest in why things happened or what was going to happen.
The filmmaking is rather TV movie-like. It's not badly shot but it's hardly impressive. I was not a fan of the music supervision, as I felt some parts would have benefitted from different or no music, but the movie way too often feels the need to add hip-hop instrumentals wherever it can.
It's a bit hard for me to think of genuine positives in the film, but I will say it wasn't boring. Snipes is not exactly to my taste, but the movie manages to keep a solid pace. It's a serviceable two hours and competently made despite my lack of true engagement.

Finally a thriller with a twist after twist. Rap and hip-hop provide more than background music, they're central to the theme. Smart script and excellent thriller overall. 'Nelly' is certainly more than a rapper. He's is star on the big screen too.
