No wonder Charlie Chaplin himself praised this movie

First of all, the movie belongs to a different era altogether. You have to respect that. Since no tools/software/special effects were available in those days, the directors had to rely heavily on the plot, emotions, composition etc. I was amazed at the depth of the topic and how the characters were developed.

The subject matter is so relevant even today and paints a poignant picture of two simple souls falling in love.

The circumstances, events and situations are so unpredictable yet so believable. No show of flesh, fancy clothing or dirty talk is present to make the movie attractive to audience. The director sticks to the subject matter and portrays the people as they would act and react naturally.

Though the film is black and white I was riveted to the screen till the end.

        One word: Bravo!
