Can't be better with this budget and in eighty's. People are writing reviews in this century. Please imagine the charm when Ramsays movies were played in halls. I have personally witnessed the fear of my parents in 1993 after watching zee horror show. The movie was made according to the time. One of the cult classic of Ramsays. My love for horror is due to Ramsay Brothers. Miss u all....
So, like, can't a witch-cult just groove in the dark forest, hanging out in their cave lair, worshipping their horned deity of choice, following the left-hand path, being dirty hippies, playing board games on their magickal zodiac table with stoned morel-headed demon-types, especially after spending all that time coming up with such a rad scorpion/skull/spider/bat decorating scheme? Not if the object of your immediate affections, a magnetically seductive witch who has her own haunted pad just up the path, complete with mirrored wet-bar, four-poster bed, bath for two, forked lightning and cobwebs, spends her evenings roaming the dark forest as a demon/witch/bat, and periodically seducing men to sacrifice and drink up all of their tasty hot steaming blood. Then the local village boss, who owns a saw-mill, has to get involved, sending his brother over to 'take care' of this witch with a bedazzled AUM-on-a-stick. Things seem settled until the brother and the daughter of the village boss are driving to her school right past the witch-pad and she gets kidnapped by the aggrieved dirty hippie warlock in order to resurrect their beloved witch.
That is the set-up of Veerana. If you dig lurid lighting, dramatic eye-region zooms, groovy witch-cults, horned deities and can tolerate attempts at off-color broad humor, song/dance numbers that seem redolent both of the early 60's and the 1980's, you will more than likely enjoy this movie. I certainly did.

"Veerana" is one of the most iconic horror films from the Ramsay Brothers, known for their signature style of eerie atmospheres, supernatural elements, and eerie background music. The film has gained cult status over the years, especially among fans of Indian horror classics.
The story revolves around a small town haunted by the spirit of a woman named Nakita, a witch who possesses young Jasmin (played by Jasmin). The movie takes the audience through a chilling tale of black magic, possession, and exorcism as the family tries to free Jasmin from the evil clutches of the spirit.
"Veerana" is a nostalgic trip for Bollywood horror lovers. While it may not be as terrifying by today's standards, it remains an enjoyable watch for those who appreciate vintage horror. If you love supernatural thrillers with an old-school charm, this one's a must-watch!

This is one of the best Bollywood 80's horror film. Charming actress Jasmin plays the lead role as possessed girl and she does very well. The film is copy of Hollywood 1983 film 'The Mausoleum' if anyone seen this film will know that besides the story how exactly some of the scenes were copied from 'The Mausoleum' in Veerana. Even the though it was a copy of Hollywood film the Director still manages to make this film a fun ride & entertaining film. Worth a watch!
Veerana review :
Jai Mahakaal!!
Ramsay brothers blend of sex and horror reached to its optimal best in Veerana, a film which was not only the highest revenue earner for them but is also regarded as their best effort till date.
A witch named Nikita is exorcised by the village Thakur but its evil soul enters the body of his kiddo daughter who grows up to become a charming seductress (Jasmin). Hemant Birje and Sahila Chadda form part of the main cast but Veerana is all about Jasmin and her sex appeal.
With ample skin exposure and a dash of evil streak, Jasmin Dhunna was simply outstanding in the film. The audience just loved her and went to watch the film multiple times just to see her taking a mid night bath (wonder why most Ramsay heroines do that...whats wrong during day time??!!!) and then indulge in torrid sex with the lusty Vijay Arora before bumping him off..
Veerana has some genuine scary moments as well like a girl gazing at a fish tank only to blow it to pieces. Bappi Lahiri's music score includes 'Saathi Tu Kahan hain..' picturised on a scantily clad Jasmin on the prowl for her next victim. The bgm, locales and forced comedy (Satish Shah as desi Hitchcock) are vintage Ramsay but Veerana soars...and it soars really high due to Jasmin!!
Post Veerana, Jasmin disappeared from Bollywood fueling various rumors from her sudden death to living a comfortable life in America. Some even say she is still based in Mumbai at Yari Road, Andheri. The pretty lady could've gone places after this super hit film to her credit. Guess it wasnt meant to be!!
