Really quite extraordinary

Peter Grimes is my personal favourite of Britten's operas, and this production is really quite extraordinary to say the least. The story is both gripping and shattering, and in costume and set design the production is spot on, likewise with the video directing. The music is superb, the orchestra bring out these driven rhythms and inspired melodies adeptly and the conducting and choral work are on point too.

Of the performances, while Alan Opie's Balstrode is the best of the support cast, it is Phillip Langridge's outstanding Peter Grimes that makes the production work so well.

So all in all, definitely a must watch. 10/10 Bethany Cox
