Nifty Numbers

The 'nifty numbers' of the title are women's bathing suits, and the chorus girls, headed by Frances Lee, step in to assist Mr. Knit and partner, purveyors of said suits, in making a big sale. We go from theater to shop to hotel, where plenty of shenanigans ensue, with the house detective uncovering a game of strip poker that isn't exactly what it seems... There are room invasions and scantily-clad dashings about-- it's silly, but good fun. The eight "Confessions of a Chorus Girl" comedies were originally two-reelers; the 200-foot 8mm print I viewed is a condensed one-reel version, which also survives as a 16mm print, and that may be all there is. 'Looser Than Loose' used this to include "Nifty Numbers" in a DVD, so it's gettable. And cute! According to the publicity, moviegoers will find: "Fun backstage in 8 snappy comedies.
