interesting, a bit over the top character study of men in war

This is a war movie of ten men on a mission. We get a good look at what most of them are like, and how long they've been doing this. They are behind the lines fighting the Germans in World War 2. The point of view shifts from soldier to soldier. This works well in this movie, and keeps us on our toes. Kudos to the director, and the writer. The performances are special. The characters come across as stereotypes at first, and then develop into extra dimensions, particularly the most affable of the characters, McKnight. One scene shows him darting from emotion to emotion, from killer to guilt ridden repentant, and it works, because it is believable. It has the credibility. A few contrived scenes,. We know what will happen to the French girl. Just once we could have been surprised. It qualifies as having a twist ending, too. All in all, an interesting war movie, with plenty of action.

Very Ordinary Low Budget Sixties War Film with a Very Noisy Score

An American unit squabble amongst each other between killing Germans; who converse between each other in subtitled German and only use English when addressing non-German speakers, which provides a modicum of authenticity.

At least it's in colour; although the verdant landscape and blue skies which provide an attractive backdrop to the action looks far too lush and green to be Northern France in January 1945 as the opening narration claims (it's actually Texas). While the incessant blaring music by Emil Kadkin & Bill Loose on the soundtrack makes it less rather than more suspenseful...
