Sad excuse for a (cutting room floor) movie

Something Weird fans like myself are used to discovering an awful film courtesy of the late Michael Vraney, and then, because he acquired a whole trunkful of junk from the same source, having the pleasure of sampling more of the auteur's dismal output.

Such is the case with MEET THE SEX, a meaningless phrase the narrator actually puts into a sentence and it still ain't grammatically correct. This junker plays like leftover footage from the same amateur-night team's shoot that yielded THE FILTH SHOP, generated another paste- up epic THE DEVIL'S BOOK STORE and is even worse than their early lesbian anthem THE KING.

Picture gets off to a rocky start introduced by two wannabe Late Night Horror Movie hosts purporting to be the Devil and his female acolyte Lola appearing on a cheesy, dim-lit control board set. (Remember, Lola was the villainess in DAMN YANKEES.) This is a ploy, not unlike MST3K, to take the onus off of the crap that follows by ridiculing it. Mainly MOS feature is narrated mostly by the woman, with both of them cracking dumb jokes and laughing at those jokes while they mickey-mouse explain and comment on the action.

Said action deals with a nerd named Osmo in a dirty book store whose non-adventures are shown to us. Even the sync of commentary and visuals is off, as femme narrator constantly refers to Osmo being turned on by watching peep-show dancing girls when nothing of the sort is on screen.

The sex shown is very tame, as guys never remove their undershorts, and the film continues its crypto-trailblazing of THE KING by having the first sex scene pre-Osmo's appearance be a mixed-combo hookup of two guys, white and black.

To term this boring would be too high a compliment. Whenever I feel nostalgic and sort of sad in not having caught the porno habit until the '70s, I have to shake myself and realize that watching archival videos is the only way to suffer through these atrocious, typical films in search of a rare gem - imagine the thousands of unrewarding hours in a cinema some '60s soft porn freak had to endure mired in sludge like this one.
