Adam and his best friend have tickets to the best concert of the year, on the day his sister Chelsea is scheduled to date the hottest boy in school. The problem is that the two brothers are grounded. To get around the tough, divorced mom law, they set her up on a date. Only when the mysterious Dimitri arrives, the youngest brother notices that the candidate for stepfather is a vampire!
Wow, how evil, such a cute movie, in the silly fluffy style "Sessão da Tarde' Disney, it's not an austere work, but it's so funny, delicate, with cute children, full of visual defects (like the bat transformations ), but the children's context is very nice to watch, there are much worse films to record Top Bottom, oh pity... Unfair...

In an attempt to get their mother out of the house for an evening, two kids unknowingly set their mom up on a date with a vampire.
This movie has its cheesy moments, but that's also part of its charm. The acting and dialogue are above par. Matt O'Leary (Adam) and Charles Shaughnessy (Dimitri) deliver excellent and memorable performances. The fact that it's Halloween is kept mostly in the background but there is a gothic, classic monster movie atmosphere at moments throughout the film.

I thought this was a really good movie. It's cute, and fun! The boy who plays Adam is a total Q-T! He's got a lot of talent. I hope to see him do more in the future. It's great for kids, and it will make the adults laugh too. I would give this movie a 8.9 out of ten. It is after all my 2nd fav disney channel original movie.
I love this movie! I watch it every Halloween. Matt O'Leary is such an amazing actor. I like all his movies, that i've seen. I haven't seen spy-kids cause they're to little kid for me. But in "Frailty" and "Domestic Disturbance". Matt was just great. I love the disney channel movies but the seasonal ones usually aren't that good. But Mom's got a date with a vampire is just cool.
Yes, it's definitely typical Disney fare. However, they managed to make it somewhat interesting and suspenseful without any gore whatsoever. And that's an accomplishment.
The plot was thin, some of the special effects tacky, some of the dialogue was corny as hell.
But, the ending of this movie was worth it. Rather than being evil and monstrous, the vampire was comedic. During one scene, he yells "Give me back my coffin!" and it was hilarious. Another, involving the look on the mother's face during a key moment, was priceless. Wonderful performance by the actor who plays the elder son. He could be another Malcolm in the Middle.
I never would've seen this film if it weren't for my daughter, but I suppose I can say that for most Disney TV movies. Whether or not I would have initially chosen to watch it, I thought it was great and I'd watch it again. Whether or not it's art, it kept me interested the entire time.
