By the late 90's both William Hanna and Joseph Barbera were mostly retired, serving only as advisors or honorary producers and could feel quite strongly about a project if they felt it was disrespectful to their creations, and the Yogi Bear shorts made by John Kricfalusi were targets of their ire. According to Iwao Takamoto, Barbera hated John K's Yogi Bear shorts so much he wanted the man dead.

Before being shown on Cartoon Network and Adult Swim, the full sequence of Yogi fighting Ranger Smith has been shortened on television broadcast due to both very extreme violence and torture situations.
