The Hunger Games series shows a crude and rather grounded dystopian world in which the Capitol lives out of the free labor of 12 districts. This ruthless society even has the Hunger Games, a televised competition where they force 24 children from the districts to kill each other as tribute. It's a vile display given a platform by some of this world's most callous figures.
Throughout the four films, The Hunger Games doesn't hold any punches. Several innocent people die in the worst way possible before there can be any peace. The people behind these tragedies are incredibly cruel, and the realistic performances are the most unnerving part.

[This story contains spoilers from the first season of Prime Video’s Cruel Intentions.]
If you were a young adult in the late ‘90s, you almost certainly knew Sean Patrick Thomas.
Before he was Jimmy James in the Barbershop franchise, spent four seasons as Detective Temple Page in CBS police drama The District or, more recently, portrayed Gene Mobley, partner of Mamie Till and father-figure to Emmett in Till, the sharp-jawed, warm-eyed actor had carved out his own corner of YA drama success.
During that time, he would star in films like Save the Last Dance and Halloween: Resurrection, roles that would follow his memorable turn as Ronald Clifford in Roger Kumble’s Cruel Intentions. Thomas took on the role of the music tutor to the rich, naive and virginal Cecile Caldwell (Selma Blair), with whom he falls in love with before their relationship is sabotaged by the ruthless, scheming step-sibling duo of Kathryn Merteuil (Sarah Michelle Gellar) and Sebastian Valmont (Ryan Phillippe...

"Cobra Kai" season 6 part 2 confirms that Terry Silver (Thomas Ian Griffith) is the "Karate Kid" franchise's biggest villain. After avoiding jail time for his previous misdemeanors, Silver's out to get revenge against Miyagi-Do and John Kreese (Martin Kove) for their role in his downfall -- and he's brought back some blasts from the past. Still, don't expect Snake (Jonathan Avildsen), one of Silver's henchmen in "The Karate Kid Part III," to participate in his reign of terror. The season 6 episode "Blood In Blood Out" quietly confirms that Snake's dead, and Silver ought to learn a lesson from his passing.
The episode in question features a flashback scene with Silver and his attorney. Fearing that his client will continue to go down a dark path, the legal representative says, "I just don't want to see you go on a downward spiral...

Amy Lewis returned to Genoa City to drop a bombshell on Nate (Sean Dominic) on The Young and the Restless.
The character has Y&R fans wondering who she is, and for good reason, since Amy (Valarie Pettiford) has been off the canvas for decades.
Nate has been involved in a mystery surrounding a woman from his father, Nathan Hastings’ (Nathan Purdee) past, for weeks.
Now we know that Amy found Nate because she is dying and needs his help.
In true soap fashion, Nate has a long-lost brother, who Amy needs to find before it’s too late.
That explains why Amy has resurfaced, but many still can’t figure out how she fits into The Young and the Restless fold.
Let’s take a look at what we know.

We’re getting a first look at the late John Amos in NBC’s Suits LA pilot in a just-released episodic photo. Amos, who died at the age of 84, was cast in a guest-starring role in the pilot from Aaron Korsh, which was picked up to series in July. It is the iconic actor’s final role.
In the pilot, Amos played himself as a client at Ted’s (Stephen Amell) law firm who also has a longstanding friendship with Ted. While Amos’ guest appearance was not conceived as part of an ongoing arc, we hear there was a potential for him to recur. At the 2024 Emmy Awards, Jean Smart walked away with the trophy for Lead Actress in a Comedy Series thanks to her career-best performance as comedian Deborah Vance in Hacks. Of course, the Emmy-winning Hacks is far from the only Smart-starring HBO series that's worth a watch, especially considering the actor appeared in both Watchmen and Mare of Easttown. After rising to prominence for her leading role in Designing Women (19861991), the actor went on to win an impressive six Emmys. Smart earned all of these accolades for her comedic chops in Frasier, Samantha Who?, and Hacks.
Still, Smart has also given her fair share of standout dramatic performances. The acclaimed performer's other Emmy-nominated roles have all been TV dramas, ranging from The District and Harry's Law to Fargo and 24. More recently, Smart made waves in the aforementioned HBO limited series Watchmen and Mare of Easttown, proving that she has...

CBS’ new daytime drama series “Beyond The Gates” has cast soap alums Karla Mosley and Daphnee Duplaix as “Dani Dupree” and “Dr. Nicole Dupree Richardson,” respectively, daughters of the Dupree family matriarch, “Anita,” played by “As The World Turns” alum Tamara Tunie (ex-Jessica Griffin).
A former model turned “momager” who gave up her career for love, Dani (Mosley) is the Dupree family’s wild child, who’s also free-spirited, headstrong and uninhibited. Dropping out of school to pursue a high-flying modeling career, she has always marched to the beat of her own drum. Meanwhile, Nicole (Duplaix) exudes warmth, empathy and compassion. Although her seemingly perfect life includes being married to a surgeon husband, not everything is as it appears on the outside… inside.

As for Dani and Nicole’s mother, Antia (Tunie) is the family’s matriarch who at one time was a famous singer.

It’s always a good time to be in the Sarah Paulson business, but that’s especially true this year. The acclaimed performer recently scored her first-ever Tony Award nomination for her performance in “Appropriate” and she is widely predicted to land double Emmy Award nominations for her guest acting appearances in the FX comedy series “The Bear” and Prime Video drama series “Mr. & Mrs. Smith.” If that were to happen when the 2024 Emmy nominations are announced in July, Paulson would join a select few performers to receive concurrent guest-acting nominations since the categories were standardized in 1989.
So far, only 10 actors have received guest-acting nominations in the comedy and drama categories in the same year. The most recent example is Harriet Walter, who collected nominations last year for roles in “Succession” and “Ted Lasso.” Walter is the only person to have achieved this double-dip twice: She was a previous double nominee in 2022.

We may have had to wait two years for the third season of HBO Max’s “Hacks” to hit our screens but, boy, was it worth it. Ths third edition is a showcase for Jean Smart who plays Deborah Vance, a veteran stand-up experiencing a resurgence in her career. Hannah Einbinder co-stars as Ava Daniels, a comedy writer working to kick-start her career.
The relationship between those two women is at the heart of the show and season three is no different, with the chemistry between Smart and Einbinder reaching new levels. This is, still, however, the Jean Smart show. She aces every moment of comedy, perfectly embodying the Joan Rivers type of comedian that Deborah is. But what elevates the character and Smart’s performance to the next level are the touches of humanity and vulnerability sown into the role.
Critics agree, Smart is turning in career-best work.

Cherry Jones could score three Emmy nominations this year for her supporting turn on the Apple TV+ limited series “Five Days at Memorial” and her guest appearances on “Poker Face” and “Succession.” It’s those double guest bids, though, that would put her in rarefied air as the three-time Emmy winner would become the 11th person to earn drama and comedy guest acting nominations in the same year.
Since the guest categories as we know them were standardized in 1989, 10 people have pulled off this feat. Jack Gilford was the first, getting shortlisted that very year for “The Golden Girls” and “thirtysomething.” In 1991, Colleen Dewhurst won comedy guest actress for “Murphy Brown” and was nominated in drama for “Road to Avonlea.” Gwen Verdon snagged noms in 1993 for her guest spots on “Dream On” and “Homicide: Life on the Street,” while Marlee Matlin followed in 1994 with bids for “Seinfeld” and “Picket Fences.

After scoring her first Emmy win in a lead acting category last year, Jean Smart returns to the Emmy race for Season 2 of HBO Max’s “Hacks.” Her portrayal of Deborah Vance is as biting as ever, as the seasoned comic leaves the casinos of Las Vegas behind for life on the road. Plopping Vance into a fancy tour bus that stops all over the country provides ample opportunity for introspection from this oft-jaded star, in addition to constantly changing scenery. This mix of humor and heart could be just the right formula to help the actress land back-to-back Emmy wins.

The only thing better than receiving one Emmy nomination is receiving two Emmy nominations. But earning multiple bids in the same year as a performer is not as uncommon as one might think, especially with television moving toward shorter seasons and limited series still rising in popularity. This has allowed actors to appear in more projects throughout the year, giving them additional chances to be recognized. But there’s another reason it happens too: guest appearances.
So far, 10 performers have been nominated in both the drama and comedy guest categories in the same year. The first to do it was Jack Gilford, who in 1989 was nominated for his work on the comedy “The Golden Girls” and the drama “thirtysomething.” He was followed in 1991 by Colleen Dewhurst, who was nominated for her appearances on “Murphy Brown” and “Road to Avonlea,” winning for the former. Mandel and The White House Plumbers‘ prop staff, including the prop master involved in the verbal altercation, are all back at work and remain on the show, sources said. As a result of the investigation, HBO has put additional protocols in place for the remainder of the shoot,...

Kenan Thompson joins the vaunted few in Emmy history who have received double nominations in the acting categories. Thompson’s are highly unusual, with both in the full-time regular series categories for lead and supporting comedy. He received a Lead Actor in a Comedy Series nom Tuesday for his portrayal of Kenan Williams in his eponymous NBC comedy series. He also earned a Supporting Actor in a Comedy Series nom for Saturday Night Live. These are not Thompson’s first Emmy noms, however. He previously received an Emmy nomination in 2018 for Outstanding Original Music and Lyrics for Saturday Night Live for the song “Come Back, Barack” from an episode hosted by Chance the Rapper.
Multiple Emmy winner Jean Smart is experiencing her first time as double nominee in the acting categories. Smart received a nomination for her leading role of legendary Las Vegas comedian Deborah Vance in HBO Max’s hit comedy Hacks.
