Highly entertaining movie, watched it over and over since it came out.

Admitted the movie is low budget made, but man, the movie is everything you want if you are in to psychadelic, fast paced, action packed 70's movie. This movie got the background music, loud and proud, car chases, sharks, secret weapons, cyborgs, coffin escapes, snakes, mad scientists, machine guns, flashlights with build in drills, " Khataron ke Ghanti" dubbed super wrist watch, cars with parachutes and pistols to name just a few. The songs Mausam hai Gaane ka and Tum Jo bhi ho are awesome, the variety of music pieces on these songs are excellent and groovy. For me personally this movie is a big fat 10. Bad reviews on this movie are from people blind to see the artisctic value and spirit this movie has, it has flaws which are part of the charm. It is not for nothing that this movie launched Mithun into stardom, energy explodes off him in this movie! Also this movie was so well received in 1979, that it spawned one of the first if not the first Bollywood sequels with Wardat (1981) and Soochna (1991), the latter was unfortunately unreleased because of the passing of Ravikant Nagaich, the Director. Surakksha is a Bad ass cult-classic!

    Below Expectation

Surakksha Directed By Ravikant Nagaich is A Spy Action Thriller. Direction is Average To Poor. Screenplay & Script is Similar To Any Spy Movie Nothing Extraordinary. Most Disappointing is Cinematography & Editing. There Are Few Technical & Characters Errors.

SSO is An Organisation Which Intends To Spread Terror. CBI Agent Gopi(Mithun Chakraborty) Also Known As Gunmaster G9 is Appointed To Investigate The Case By CBI Chief (Iftekhar). Meanwhile Gopi Meets Priya(Ranjeeta).Priya's Father is Killed By SSO. Further Investigation Leads Them To Heeralal(Jeevan) Who Works For Scientist Shiva(Balaje). How They Face Them ?

Acting By Mithun is Natural. Ranjeeta is Fine. Jeevan is Wasted. Music is Good By Bappi Lahiri . "Mausam Hai Gaane Ka" is Best Of The Lot.

    Tacky but mildly enjoyable

SURAKKSHA is a rip-off of James Bond(that sometimes borders on being a parody due to surprisingly bad technical aspects) done with full desi vigour and period-appropriate Bollywood aesthetics. It's a wacky tale that follows a spy, goofily named Gunmater G9 with an equally goofy background score screaming his name again and again, who is tasked with finding one of his colleague while also trying to dismantle a notorious criminal organisation. This film is filled with tacky visual effects and shoddy production design, which is especially apparent when seen through a modern lens, although I'm pretty sure it must have looked dated even during the time of its release. But despite these problems, I enjoyed this zany tale filled with spies, overly theatrical villains, a lost map of treasures, a weapon of mass destruction, a mandatory dance sequence at the villain's lair and Mithun Da's suave charm. So, although you might find a ton to dislike here, this film's kitsch quality and palpable charm are undeniable.

Mausam Hai, Gaana Ke, Baja Ne Ka...

Gunmaster G-9 is a cult film figure, Mithunda played the character with style.

'Surakksha' is remembered till today, for Mithunda's killer dances and of course his ever-natural acting. The songs were Chartbusters.

Mausam Hai, Gaana Ke, Baja Ne Ka, Sune Ka, Suna Ne Ka, Raathoon Ko, Jagana Ka. Yeh Jeevan Yeh Sapna Hai Deewani Ka. Oh man, what a classic! I've the film long back, all I remember is the songs, and Mithunda dancing on them.

Mithunda made 2 sequels to 'Surakksha'... which were also fun & had superb songs.

Gunmaster G-9, the Indian Bond... is nothing short of Cult.
