Geetha

The actress in this movie is "Akshata Rao" she has acted a few Kannada movies and that too only with Shankar nag. I think two movies only. There is no reference about her in the net.

I came to know about her on tracing the original source of Cheeni Kum song with was adapted from Tamil song Viyzile Mani Viyzile for the film Nooravadhu Naal staring Mohan and Nalini which in turn (song)adopted from Kannada film Greeta.

All the three songs were by Ilayaraja and first two were sung by SPB and S.Janaki and latest one by Sherya Goshal.

The film also have another song which was also remade in Tamil for Karthick, Devadai Ilam Devi.

This looks like another run of the mill kannada movie. Except that, this one was the first original story of its kind. Geetha is the name of the main lead, who happens to fall in love with a singer (Shankar Nag). After initial hiccups the two finally look for each other only to know that Geetha has a blood cancer. This happens to be the second time tragedy for the hero.

The film is immortal in the kannada film history for its music by Illairaja the maestro. Many of the songs like "Jotheyelli" are the heart throbing songs of young couples.
