Is it available for today? (as it was a silent film and can be lost) If yes, where can I see it? I'm from Poland and during Holy Mass last Easter a priest told about film "Hours of Darkness" ("Godziny ciemności") which had very similar title and plot. Some scientists found a tomb of Jesus, so they revealed that he didn't resurrect. This news caused closing churches, habits and hospitals in the whole world, it also destroyed people's behavior. In the end of film there was shown a director, who told "How would the world look like, if Christ didn't resurrect". Is it plot true? I can't believe that in silent film a director could tell anything. My friend from other city also heard about this film in church, but he said that was film adaptation of a book "A Skeleton in God's Closet" from 1994, but there is no source about it. Another friend heard about this film during a school which he finished in 1992, at least two years earlier that this book was written! So this is a little strange. Who knows anything about this film?
I'm responding to a review by masiczek asking for information. This film was based on "When It Was Dark: The Story of a Great Conspiracy" (1903), a best-selling Christian novel by English author Guy Thorne.
An atheist millionaire arranges to have an inscription placed on a sepulcher, ostensibly by Joseph of Arimathea, stating that he took Christ's body after his death and hid it away. The world falls into moral decline.
A New York Times review called it "intensely interesting and dramatic."
I learned of this novel's existence in the Youtube video "Christopher Hitchens vs John Lennox Is God Great? Debate."
