The movie opens in a Kashmir village, a girl who remembers and awaits her teenage love (played by Noor Jehan). The boy (Santosh Kumar) from a rich family in Karachi returns to Kashmir looking for his lost love of his teen hood. And as the movie progresses, the drama is supported by Noor Jehan's hauntingly melodious songs, classical dances. A worthwhile movie for music lovers. Again in this movie, all the songs by Noor Jehan were live recorded at film studio sets. The voice is hauntingly melodious and beautiful... more than words can say. A worthwhile musical experience that one must go through.
Normally i prefer to listen to male singers but Noor Jehan's voice had such magic, such allure and melody no-one in the right senses could dispute its right to be heard. And what an experience! This movie is the the ultimate in the renowned singer's career.Santosh's dashing and romantic looks supplement Noor Jehan well. Her acting is theatrical but the pathos and passion she brings is undeniable. The musical score by K.Anwar is astounding for its time.Truly memorable. The lyrics are high class and cultured poetry.A good performance also from Asha Phoslay. This and several other films from the same era have become legends in Pakistani cinema.Sadly the pioneering spirit has not carried to the present.Lack of adequate facilities, acting centers, finance and not least shortage of qualified technicians, directors have led to a state of affairs where films like Intezar seem myths to the newcomer to Pakistani films.
