"Nothing to do -- and the whole neighborhood to do it in"

William Gillespie and Charlotte Mineau have been living on the $50 a week his uncle has been sending them for their daughter and baby son. When they find out he's coming for a visit, they offer the bellboy money to find them a daughter and son. He comes back with Mickey Daniels as the daughter and Joe Cobb as the infant. Fortunately, there are some spares: not only cigar-puffing Harry Earle, but the rest of the Gang are around to help.... for a very loose definition of help.

It's a very amusing Our Gang, mostly for the sheer confusion of the situation; certainly it's more about the adults than the kids in this one. Like many of them in this period, Joe Cobb is most of the show, but the others get their licks in, as well as Roach regulars Tiny Sandford, Charlie Hall, and Martha Sleeper; she had been hired for the series, but had turned out to be too adult looking, and soon was playing love-interest roles with the likes of Charley Chase.

Mildly entertaining...and very much like one of Oliver Hardy's earlier films.

This is a mildly entertaining Our Gang comedy from Hal Roach Studios. It's interesting, but I saw another short recently that was similar in many ways, Oliver Hardy's "One Too Many" from 1916. In both films, an uncle is coming to town...an uncle expecting to see the nephew's baby (or babies) they wrote him about some time ago. In both cases, there was no baby...it was just an attempt to get in good with the RICH uncle! In this case, the kids from the gang are the kids who pretend that the nephew is their daddy.

So is it any good? Yes. While not very original, it was cute and had a few funny moments...such as seeing big Joe Cobb dressed as a baby as well as Farina trying to blend in with all the other babies. Worth your time.
