Mela is a Hindi action masala film directed by Dharmesh Darshan. This is most popular movie. The characters were very genuine. It stars Aamir Khan, his real-life brother Faisal Khan and Twinkle. The starting part of the film was wonderful. After this the main part of film is starts. theme of the story was near about creativity. Theme music was very nice. Plot of the movie was amazing. Songs was good. Title song 'mela dilon ka' was very famous song. The music was composed by four composers with Anu Malik, Rajesh Roshan, and Lesle Lewis composing the songs and Surinder Sodhi composing the film score.End of the film was so well.finally i rated this movie with 3 stars.
Don't listen to any of the crap about this movie. It's much better than the overrated movies of its era e.g Dil to Pagal hai etc.... I have watched it a few times myself. A full entertainer....
Mela is an action film revolving around a woman who wants revenge against a robber for destroying her life. A simple story but narrated from rural Ego. It glorifies the Unprogressiveness of a certain sections of society which ages very badly. Dharmesh Darshan didn't foresaw the calculation of that. Mela in short is a tale of revenge, bloodshed and eroticism between them.
Firstly, the audio, the BGM were so loud that you will feel the heat of the mood. Every frame has that high tonal attitude, which goes like that upto the end. The characters are too same. Amir is passion driven, lacks the steadfastness and emotional fool. A very bad choice for a protagony. His friend is good though, feels like a hard man but he is a supporting cast only. Twinkle face reflects purely the capitalist attiude, who wears revealing dress of a village damsel, with fiery eyes and soft emotions. Such an odd combination is this. The film in summary is a total combo package of emotional outbursts that display passion for revenge, bloodshed and wild desires.
Ofcourse, sexuality is seen lowly in the film but the actresses strategies and her very appearance will confuse you. After a lot of emotional drama and this-that, all the good guys kills the bad guys in worst possible manner. You will laugh yourself out if you think logically "In which country are they from ? Or where are the Police and civilized people ?" The energy you get from it is fire burning somewhere and DD explicitly attempted to portray that in screen. It's your choice if you want to see it but by rating it will be a 22 on a scale of 100.

Acting (including Aamir Khan) is either bad or loud or both. The story is not very gripping. Twinkle Khanna sealed her fate as a failed actor with this movie. She has an amazing complexion. But the rest is plain bad. Despite having superstar parents, she does not have any talent as actor. Faizal Khan is boring. Just showing off muscles does not amount to acting. The villains are unreal and ugly. Blatantly plagiarizing the scene from Dumb and Dumber was done badly (I never thought this was possible!). The mela title song is tooooooo long and repetitive. I wonder what was the director thinking?
The whole movie is a waste of time. Not worth watching.

You'd think that with hits like Raja Hindustani and Lootere in his bag, Dharmesh Dharshan would have a good entertainer in Mela. Not! Mela is really Sholay revisited. Sad to say, it doesn't even come close to Sholay.
So we have Twinkle Khanna, the village belle. Her brother (Ayub Khan) and best friend (Omkar Kapoor) are killed by the evil Gujjar (Tinnu Verma). She swears revenge against the latter. A series of events land her together with Kishen (Aamir Khan) and Shankar (Faisal Khan), whose help she enlists in her fight against Gujjar.
Twinkle truly brings to life the phrase damsel in distress to life! If she's not getting raped, she's plunging down waterfalls and being chased around by Gujjar's men. How she manages to find time to sing God-awful songs is beyond me. She's a truly drastic change from Darshan's usual heroines of substance. And having someone dub over her lines is the worst idea ever. Instead od sounding authentic, it sounds TERRIBLE, like she's overacting! Faisal Khan is a good looker, but it's hard to tell if he can act well. His role is pretty much like his previous one in Madhosh - the silent, stoic type. Aamir, as usual, is in his element as the playful Kishen. If not for him, this film would be lousier than it already is.
None of the songs are worth mentioning. The only one's that pseudo-decent is Dhadkan Mein Tum and that too, is a rip-off the background music of Ramesh Sippy's Andaz. Is Anu Malik THAT desperate?? Twinkle's outfits are awful, by the way! I may be a diehard fan of Aamir Khan, but there's no denying that Mela isn't worth celebrating.

He said that the film was not the way he wanted it to be at all, and had many disagreements with director Dharmesh Darshan. Most days Aamir became so upset that he would even refuse to film. And when the film released, Aamir was extremely disappointed with the final outcome.
