This videogame which is the fourth installment in the Evil Dead trilogy. The bases of the game is that Ash returns back to the cabin and his girlfriend is kidnapped by Evil Ash. Ash must set to destroy Evil Ash and save his girlfriend. This game got me hooked from the start. I couldn't stop playing. I beat the game and the ending was a big plot twist. Go out and buy this game. You won't regret baby.
I have to say that this is a wonderful game for Evil Dead fans! This game has all the humor and gore the films had. Bruce Campbell does a great job reprising his role (in voice-over form) of Ash. The game plays almost exactly like the Resident Evil games, so play should'nt be hard if you've had experience with those. Definetly one of the best purks of this game is that you get a button devoted to Ash's one-liners. You also get two weapons, your trusty chainsaw on one arm, and three other weapons in the other hand including: an axe, your boomstick(shotgun), or a rifle. The sounds are really creepy in the woods, but whenever you kill a deadite and Ash delivers "say hello to disco for me" things get a little brighter. The only problem that I do have to point out is that the floating deadites do respawn and are a pain to kill, and continuously fighting them gets tireing. I would recommend this game to all ED fans, it is a very good, funny, and at times challenging game.
I can't believe that THQ got the license to one of the greatest film series of all time, got THE MAN to reprise his role in voice-over form, and they still churned out a pile of crap such as this. Right off the bat, I must point out that Bruce Campbell is awesome as far as the voice acting is concerned. Some of the other characters are weak, but Bruce is spot on Ash at all times. If only THQ did their part, and made a decent game to complement it. The backgrounds are blurry looping fmvs, and are acceptable, though pretty blurry. The enemies respawn as soon as they are killed, which makes it pointless to get in any fights. The character models are laughable. The FMVs are really sad. They don't even have the characters' lips move. The story is actually interesting, and integrates the Evil Dead mythos with some real history (The Mad Poet Aziz, the Book of Dead Names), but the game just stinks. Many fans of the game claim that people who don't like it aren't true fans of the films, but they are in some sort of strange denial over the lack of quality found in this game. Maybe THQ will take to heart the criticisms the game has received, as the game does show some potential, but then again, who are we kidding? It's THQ.
Me and my buddies are avid Evil Dead fans. We have all seen the three films numerous times. When we heard the made a video game, we went nuts. After buying it we were a little disappointed. The game starts inside the cabin, and it is exactly like it is in the movies! the graphics are good, but it is very hard to play. Killing deadites becomes redundant and the angles are absurd. It's not very fun to play, but it does portray a great story and what else can I say about Bruce Campbell supplying the voice of Ash, a classic. Evil Dead fans should check out, other gamers should avoid.
This game sucked. And in response to the guy who says that if you don't like this game you aren't a fan. To show the level of commitment as a fan of Evil Dead, I have a tattoo themed of all three movies that completely covers my forearm. How is that for a fan? Anyways, I agree with most on the game. It was really hard to play and you ran out of gas for the chainsaw way too fast. Pick up Regeneration or Fistful of Boomstick if you want to play a decent ED game. The quips are better. The weapons are better. And Regeneration has some interesting Easter Eggs. I would consider Hail to the King a test to see if there was a market for ED based games. Ten lines can be a pain in the butt.
