A simple and honest movie from the late 90's

This is the story of a man who lost his wife and child and has wound up living on the streets. Through an encounter with a woman and her daughter, the man slowly re-thinks his life, and how he is better able to help others rather than dwelling on his own misery. This is a low budget but sincere film.

    Not heartwarming....Disturbing

I did attempt to like this film. At first I did not recall ever seeing it but by the end I remembered it and why I had banned it from memory. No, I do not have a heart of coal but lying to children is despicable.

The world would be a much better place with tooth-fairies and toy building elves but misleading children with these stories, however "well meaning", is disgraceful. Honesty and compassion is always best - as demonstrated by the grocery store owner; who by the way was the only believable character in the film.

This story is highly contrived and has a tragic end. I do not find this movie inspiring or wonderful.

    Heartwarming...and irresistible

I tell you...you've got a lump of coal for a heart if you didn't find this tale absolutely inspiring and wonderful.

Since I'm certain the vast majority of you have not seen this film (yet another unnoticed gem out there!), let me just tell you the basic plot: A sweetly homeless man named Briefcase begins an awkward but poignant friendship with a sweetly little girl, who believes that Briefcase is The Tooth Fairy. Briefcase, determined to instill the little girl with the hopes and dreams that he has lost, becomes dedicated to keeping the guise alive, leading to some unexpectedly tragic repercussions.

A film with a tremendous amount of heart, Angel on Abbey Street is a triumph of the human spirit, and deserves an audience!

    Hauntingly lovely film

An Angel on Abbey Street was not only thoroughly enjoyable for my whole family, but is one of those films that remains in my memory for a long time. I would recommend it to anyone. I don't know who this person is who thought it was "disturbing" because that person obviously didn't watch the same movie as I did. My whole family loved it. The title was perfect in that the little girl was just like an angel, but it was Briefcase who came to save the day. Overall it was an uplifting film and the ending really tugged at my heartstrings. I'm so surprised we didn't see it in the theater. I have so many friends and family who are looking for this kind of upbeat, hope-instilling kind of story who would love to have a copy.
