Unlike the other court TV judges, Judge Joe Brown seems more like the classic doleful, stalwart personality, that must of us associate with someone who is a judge.
Though he's a bit foreboding, Judge Joe Brown is more Ike a stern, yet concerned father figure. His motto, is that he's 'protecting woman-hood, and promoting man-hood'. Like Judge Judy, he often administers his brand of tough-love to litigants who are on the losing end of his judgments. He often tells losing male litigants, to 'man-up, pay-up, and grow up.'
If you like the fiery courtroom style of Judge Judy, then Judge Joe Brown may not be your cup of tea. Judge Joe Brown exudes a dignified, low-key essence. He wants to get to the truth, and he does so by stealth, shrewd question of the litigants, and his uncanny ability to see through any BS. He seldom loses his temper, no matter how exasperated he gets with his litigants.
Judge Joe Brown, is a good, but not great court TV program. His show can be boring at times. And he should ad more sparkle to his personality to help liven-up this show.

I just watched an episode of Judge Joe Brown were a young black guy stole a white ladies ATM card. His defense was "I don't remember it" the Judge threw the case out for ins evidence!!!!! Really, and there's all the racist talk!! Well that's a two way street. He treated that lady very rudely, even calling the young man out for being drunk!!! I will not watch another episode!! Promoting manhood yea he done a great job of setting that young man on the right track go ahead steal an ATM card it's all good!!!! Makes me sick!!!! I've seen him all over young white men for basically the same things. And what more evidence did she need?? The young man came into her house, left, the card was gone & several charges where made and several ATM withdrawals were made. When ask his reply was "I don't remember" after confessing to having an alcohol problem!! Get it together whats fair for one should be fair for the other!!!!
Its a good show, Judge Joe Brown is very direct (and very offensive to his litigants) But thats what most of the court shows need in times like these. If you enjoy Judge Joe Brown I also recommend The People's Court.
Um, Judge Joe Brown's slogan for men and women of ANY COLOR has been, "I'm protecting womanhood, and promoting manhood." He says nothing about wanting only BLACK people to raise their children properly, etc. That might be what the idiot poster sees this show as, but that's not what Judge Brown says. I've seen ignorant people of all races on this show. Sure, there may be more blacks on the show than whites; but unless there is no such thing as unruly white people; it is NOT fair to say that the judge only addresses black people with regards to how to raise boys to men, and how to raise girls, etc. I think after the judge promotes manhood and protects womanhood, he should teach common sense to ignorant people who tend to see what they want to see, and then post their assumptions online as facts.
Really great Judge from Memphis TN that did a lot for the people of Shelby Co. I enjoyed watching your show after school!!! I use to tell my mother that Mr Judge Brown was on tv. Very nice to see you on the television also!!!! The show was on air throughout my childhood up until my adulthood. Hate that you show was cancelled. This man will always be The Judge Joe Brown that we all know and love!!!! From seeing your actual courtroom to watching your amazing rulings on television!!!!!! Very great to see a pilar of the community pave the way for so many good people!!!! Great job Judge Joe Brown!!
