    Two is Two Too Many

When Dorothy Granger walks out on husband Leon Errol in a fit of jealousy, Leon must talk a neighbor into masquerading as his wife to convince a moralizing client that everything is fine. Of course, Dorothy returns ...

This was Leon Errol's last short subject for RKO. This wasn't because of declining popularity or increased costs or competition from television -- although those were undoubtedly all concerns at the studio. No, Leon Errol died of a heart attack, ending the series. In the meantime, this was released, and it is a typically silly and saucy slapstick entry in the series.

Leon's last....but not among his least.

The story begins with Leon Errol being friendly and helping a female neighbor. His wife, however, is the jealous type...plus Leon was talking about her rather disparagingly....so soon she walks out on him. Her timing is lousy, as he has an important client coming over and he wants to meet the wife! So, Leon convinces his neighbor to pose as his wife...and soon after the client arrives, so does the real wife! It only gets worse from here!1

This was Leon Errol's last film and it actually debuted two months after his death. A pleasant short film...and with some very familiar subject matter handled quite well. In many ways, the plot is reminiscent of some of Laurel & Hardy's, Edgar Kennedy's domestic comedies as well as some sitcoms of the 50s and 60s. Well worth seeing.
