    fan of movie

RAPE! is yet another in a long line of rape-themed pinku films - a genre that I've grown to love of late. Mixing stylish cinematography with sleazy sex and violence - I just never seem to get bored of this quirky style of Japanese exploitation film-making. RAPE! is not particularly my favorite of this sort of film, nor is it my favorite of director Yasuharu Hasebe's works in particular - but it's still a "fun" time for fans of this sort of material...

A naive and "inexperienced" office worker is raped in an elevator on her way home from work. The next day at work, her boss (who has a reputation for boning the female assistants) asks her out to dinner and she agrees. After dinner the boss takes her to a "love-hotel" and basically rapes her too - not as blatantly or brutally as the elevator incident - but it's pretty clear that the young lady is not real interested in his advances. After these two harrowing experiences, she is raped yet again by another office worker, which is pretty much the last straw for our poor heroine. Deciding to take her sexuality into her own hands, the office-worker begins to indiscriminately sleep with random people - even those that just ask for her "company" off the street, and including a somewhat sad, yet amusing scene with two young guys who use her as an endurance test. Simultaneously, the film follows the elevator rapist as he goes on a rape spree - and it's also alluded to that he only enjoys raping women who fight back, as opposed to those RAPE! is yet another in a long line of rape-themed pinku films - a genre that I've grown to love of late. Through random chance, elevator rapist and the office-worker victim are reunited, and the victims unresolved feelings are addressed once and for all...

Not as strong as the hyper-sleazy and violent ASSAULT! JACK THE RIPPER, and no where near the fun and silly atmosphere of STRAY CAT ROCK: SEX HUNTER or BLACK TIGHT KILLERS - RAPE! falls somewhere in the middle of the pinku-realm, with tons of sleazy rape material and a bit of violence - but it never quite goes completely over-the-top, nor does it become a parody of the situations portrayed. The storyline is straight-forward and solid, and the acting is on par with other productions of this sort. Neither the sex nor the violence are anything extremely notable, this one relies more on plot and a sort of "twist" ending which works. Personally, I wouldn't rate it amongst the best of the genre, but I would say that it should definitely be sought out by enthusiasts of pinku material...7/10 that begin to "enjoy" the experience. translation: RAPE!

This is a surprisingly beautiful and erotic film. The Japanese definitely have a thing for rape and it shows. It's not really at all exploitative, with a compelling subtext about sexual identity and erotic attraction. The perfect first date movie.

    Sex? Nah. Rape? Yeah.

Okay, so I'm going into a movie that's simply called "Rape!". Even though the title makes the movie worth watching alone, I've heard the movie is a real good entry into the pinku realm, and it is. I've also just learned that this was the first part to a quadrilogy, with Assault! Jack the Ripper, a better movie, being part of that quadrilogy. So there ya go!

Well, this movie focuses on a really cute chick who gets raped and then realizes that she enjoys sex/rape. The movie tackles issues like a rapist can only enjoy the rape if the girl is hating it. Or that a girl who was sexually repressed, is now only turned on by being raped. Rape! is a crazy rape themed movie, that is pretty damn entertaining. If you're into this genre, I would say this is a must see. 8 outta 10

    Brutal Japanese pink rape film.

Yasuharu Hasebe's "Rape!" features Natsuko Yashiro as a young and virginal librarian, who is savagely raped in an elevator by Kenzo Kenie. She quickly becomes addicted to rough sex as she tries to track down her rapist...Typically twisted Japanese pinku eiga rape flick that offers tons of sleazy rape and some nasty violence."Rape!" certainly packs a punch, but it's not as grimly effective and disturbing as "Assault!Jack the Ripper" or "Rape!13th Hour".The film is well-acted and the production values are surprisingly high.So if you are a fan of this type of material you can't go wrong with "Rape!".However there are nastier examples of pinku genre out there for example "Captured for Sex 2",which I reviewed some time ago or ultra-perverse "All Women Are Whores".

    Superb Violent Pink film

The first film in Yasauharu's quadrilogy of RAPE, RAPE 13TH HOUR, ASSAULT JACK THE RIPPER and RAPING!

This is amazing cinema, erotic and brutal, sharp and incisive.

After a woman is raped, her sexuality and deviant tendencies are awakened as she pursues her rapist to his ultimate conclusion.

Extremely well shot and directed, the film has a fetid air of menace and repressed sexuality.

Some of the rape scenes are more sensual than brutal and Hasebe's skill with suggestive imagery is powerful and inspiring.

A good place to start if you're game enough to enter this fascinating, maligned genre.
