I enjoyed the journey and the thought provoking style of Mr. Mukherji's subtle technique. Mr. Mukherji's questioning style allows the interviews to go on unobstructed and pure. We feel like we are talking to these four directors and they are talking to us. I loved it, thank you Kevin.
Brilliant documentary on the cutting edge filmmakers of our time. Although the host was a "silent host," you could feel the guiding force of filmmaker Kevin Mukherji's vision. The advice given by these veteran auteurs is priceless to the new generation of visual storytellers. A must see.

Excellent pacing. Mukherji asks the right questions to the filmmakers and gives the viewers an intimate look at their respective careers. American Storytellers shows how four individuals who come from different backgrounds share a unique talent. It also gives aspiring directors, producers, actors, or anyone trying to make in the film business, a first hand look at success stories. No wonder it has recently been picked up overseas. If anyone is wondering what makes an independent film "independent", this is the movie to watch. But along with substance, there is style. With the black and white shots and movie sets, Mukherji leaves us visually stimulated and deep in thought.

One of the best films about the independent film industry. Director Kevin Mukherji shows his love for the industry. His respect is shown for the indie crew by interviewing four integral and inspirational filmmakers in the independent field. These directors are John Sayles, John McNaughton, Forest Whitaker, and Harold Ramis who give us insight about how a film comes to life from story concept to marketing the completed product. Mukherji definitely shows his craft and has a refreshing way of interviewing the directors as a silent host for the entirety of the film with only glimpses of Kevin seen throughout "Storytellers". Check out his other film "Death and Taxis" a must see.
