7/10 some good scenes and a great ass

Not a bad picture. I still don't know why a stuck up boring Italian lad would fall in love with a drugged up goth who keeps telling him to F off. some great talent here though. funny to see Eileen Walsh at the beginning of her career. not much to do in this movie but shes still very good. Brendan Gleeson is really funny especially with Gavin Keilty. Niamh O'Byrne is a total ride and very good at playing a mixed up teenager from a mad house. love the swimming scenes, should have been more shagging though, only got a glimpse! highlights of the film are the scrap scenes, the skinny dipping scenes (great arse) and the fathers getting stoned with the hippies. 7/10. not great but not terrible.

    Impressed by variety and freedom...

This movie is absolutely not perfect just like any other creature in the world. Why I found it so impressive? It's hard to say, but I'd like to explain because I'm writing a review. Sometimes some details in the movie can make it very impressive. There were some details in this movie that I just can't get them out of my mind. E.g. Alison enjoying "music" on the hill of black stones somewhere in a very noisy place; Alison t-shirts with a white picture of stylized human I'd say; the moment when she's driving in a car with those graffiti kids and she visibly feels sympathy to one of those guys; etc. Ireland! I think it was the best place to create this movie. It's because of that beautiful, sad and windy nature. I would say that the nature totally matched with a mood of the movie. Alison and Spaghetti guy... It was the most interesting thing for me that these two totally different guys becomes each other so well. That is real life. People don't like being with similar people because they're tired of themselves and wants any differences. I think that this movie was unbelievably colorful because of the variety of characters: how differently they live and what different things they prefer in their life. The actors weren't perfect but that didn't cause me big emotions about this fact. I enjoyed carelessness and FREEDOM in this movie. Affected by this movie and all the impressions i wrote 10/10. As I wrote - it's not perfect and it may be worth less.

Nice idea but just doesn't make the grade

This film, set in Ireland, but financed from Italy, revolves around an Italian student who comes over to Ireland to stay with an Irish family as part of a student exchange program. He is a rich kid and the family he stays with in Ireland is anything but. He strikes up a relationship (of sorts) with the daughter and decides to run away with her. This brings his father over from Italy who teams up with Brendan Gleeson (who plays the girls father) and off they head to find their lost siblings.

The films many attempts at humor fall on stony ground and the acting is of a very poor standard. The only saving grace is that of Glesson, who even with a weak script can make it work.
