    Voices from the streets

An experimental film made by Eliane Caffé ("Kenoma", "Narradores de Javé") that shows the reality, the world and the words from homeless people and a little about their reduced artistic movements where they can express a little about themselves. It combines a documentary with real people and small silent acting moments from veteran such as Jonas Bloch, Leonardo Villar and Joffre Soares (who narrates some portions of the film).

Depressive, reflective and a little poignant, "Caligrama" doesn't work for too long as an experiment since there's still a certain distance from the objects analysed, it's too brief when it comes to sharing the homeless man and women points of view (there's one great monologue in the early minutes), but it certainly shows the hard realities they endure while facing hunger, cold, poverty among many other things. The part with the actors is a little distracting, and at times it doesn't feel like they're living in the streets but more like they're on prison. It felt a little confusing at times.

Worthy of view due to its reflective images and it makes for a great cause and of better viewing on the issue than seeing through news reports. 6/10.

    • Crazy credits
The film opens with a poem written by Fernando Pessoa: "I am who I failed to be; We are all who we think we are; Our reality is what we can never achieve." Pessoa is only credited at the end credits and not after the quotation.
