For the other heroes role next to Mehmood , no actor in the industry wanted to do it. Everyone was scared to be over shadowed by Mehmood. That is when Mehmood suggested to the producer they sign Vinod Khanna. Mehmood felt Vinod had a good looking face and he could pass for a hero. But the producer was adamant and did not want Vinod in the film. Vinod was known as a villain after Man Ka Meet and the producer believed Vinod would be unsuitable. That is when Mehmood told the produced that if he did not sign Vinod, then he would walk out of the film.
