Reena is from an economically poor back ground . She is a dancer and is passionate about her craft. She does not get much recognition but keeps going in the hope of making it big .
Prem Nasir who is much senior to her in age is enamored by her and keeps organising her dances. She has nothin but respect and distant admiration for him . Despite him giving feelers, She also calls him uncle as a mark of respect .
Mamooty comes in her life . Initially he starts as a fan wooing her with flowers and appreciation letters. Very soon they become very close . He is from a rich family unlike her . A couple of duets follow .
Her own family is fine with this match . However his mother Sukumari has other plans for him . She arranges his marriage with equally rich Unni Mary .
She has her own story . She leads a debaucherous life with party and friends all the time. Though she leads wild free life she sincerely loves Rathesh.
He leads her on initially backs out in the last moment .She realises that she is carrying . To escape scrutiny she agrees to this match .
Reena retreats quietly crying at her fate and failed love .
Mamooty's friend Mohanlal tries to come close to her . She however rejects him as she is still healing .
Meanwhile Prem sees his chance . He wins her over slowly . She agrees to marriage with him after some persuasion and push by her own parents.
He leaves for Singapore on office work promising to return back soon and marry her . She writes her story in a big book labeling it as My Story . She gives it to him to read before marrying her .
He reads it all and still is convinced that she is perfect for him . He is also ready to encourage her craft . Happily she decides to wait for him .
Meanwhile Mamooty returns back . His marriage was a failure from day one . His family realises that the bride of one day is carrying and the marriage has been annulled.
Reena refuses to go back to him citing Prem's proposal. Sad and dejected Mamooty turns back .
Unfortunately Prem's flight meets with an accident and he dies .
Prem's brother ( again Prem in a small double role ) reads this book at his funeral and tries to encourage her again saying she can still become a dancer . The past failed relations and plans become too much for her and she commits suicide in the end.
A poignant drama . Reena has western Anglicized look most of the time . Sarees and Indian dances do not suit her much though she acts and dances well.
Unni Mary and Mohan lal shine in their small negative roles. Mamooty and Prem act with ease along with likable Sukumari . Over all a sad drama.
