Prabhakar, an honest policeman, is murdered by Din Dayal, a crime lord. Later, Khanna comes across Kalicharan who is Prabhakar's lookalike and recruits him to defeat Din Dayal.
Shatrughan hit the box office running as a hero on this classic Subesh Ghai directed film, and is excellent in the double role, two contrasting characters: one an honest police officer and the other a rascal, who takes the police officer's place when he dies.
The idea of a rascal assuming the place of a murdered police man is very enticing, and you know that Kalicharan - the rogue doppelgänger- has enough anti-hero in him to give Ajit and in his goons some trouble. The action and songs are great - but what makes this even more exciting is Ajit as Dhin Dayal, who oozes sinister and class with that distinctive voice ( he's like the Bollywood Vincent Price) which utters that classic line: "Sara Sheher Mujhe Lion Ke Naam Se Janta Hai."
Danny And Reena Roy also star, and do fantastically, adding to this classic action that made Shatrughan Sinha a big star. Definitely one of his best films.
