Maybe it's because it doesn't overstay its welcome (far from it with that tiny running time) but "George Lucas in Love" is a delight; a playful look at how Lucas ironed out his script for "Star Wars". Key elements from the trilogy existed all around him as eccentric classmates and professors on the grounds of USC. It's a novel concept for an indie short film, and the homage is loving to the point of being innocuous. Put another way, the references are inventive and it makes for something refreshing and very funny.
A great spin on the mythos.

This little film was way better then I had expected. Everything about it was done very professional, not only the acting but also the cinematography and the music.
The film tells in a comical and fictional way how George Lucas got his inspiration for the greatest movie saga of all time: Star Wars. The way the story is told is excellent and done in a good quick pace. Maybe a little bit too quick because the film is over before you know it. I think I would have even liked the film better if it was longer and showed more how Lucas got his inspiration.
Even people who are not Die-hard Star Wars fans will understand most of the jokes and references to certain characters in the film that resemble characters that are from the first Star Wars trilogy.
A great very original short comedy!

For all who wonder how George Lucas got his inspiration for the "Star Wars" movies, here is how it came about (maybe). George has writer's block and can't figure things out in time to graduate, but people come into his life to help out right when he needs it. This movie is hilarious with hidden references to the "Star Wars" movies and a few of Lucas' other works! Something that is fun to show a small group of people late at night, or just a die hard SW fan. And great for outright laughs and something to chew on before EPISODE III opens on May 19th!
Search the web for this, it comes pretty cheap at $12-15 per copy, and is well worth the money spent!!!

Exceptionally witty parody of "Shakespeare in Love" that has George Lucas struggling to complete his "Star Wars" script in order to pass his film class at USC. After meeting and falling in love with Marion, a fan of his earlier student films, he takes her advice and finishes the screenplay by "writing what he knows". Throughout the course of the film we get to see George's REAL inspirations for all our favorite Star Wars characters and plot twists, and the audience even gets the inside scoop on what motivated Lucas to executive produce "Howard the Duck"! This is certainly one of the best (short) spoof films ever.

Who could think that the story of creation of a galaxy can be told within 8 minutes in such a pleasant way? What a creative work. Everything about this short movie is creative: The music is great(a mixture of Star Wars and Shakespear in Love), editing and above all, the inspiration. If you are a movie lover don't miss this one.
