Heavy on the drama with good fights but could use more good fights

The movie starts with Tam Sing demonstrating his kung fu skills by catching fish with his bare hands. Next he attends the deathbed of a rich man who adopted him as a second son. The rich man dies and the prodigal son returns. This sets up the conflict and drama for the rest of the movie. It starts heavy on the drama and continues that way.

I have come across two versions of this movie. One in an Ocean Shores © 1987 VHS release that has since been converted to a digital file. It has the usual 4:3 screen size and is English dubbed. There is also a version by the super fan known as Jamal. This is wide screen and also English dubbed. Though true wide screen, the picture is still small and doesn't fill a HDTV and the resolution is about the same as VHS.

I first watched this movie back in 2015 and wrote a review rating it as 6 out of 10. I put it on my list to watch again in my next rotation. The main plus about the movie was the above average fights and I credit the late great Lam Ching-Ying for that. He is well known for being Bruce Lee's body double specifically for acrobatics such as in "Enter the Dragon". Lam could put together and film a fight sequence that made an elderly lady look like a spry martial arts master.

Tam Sing is another actor who seemed to come from nowhere, star in martial arts movies, then vanished back to wherever he came. I have no biographical information. He starred only in this movie and one more "Paris Killers". At least he got to see Paris before his career ended. I also reviewed that movie here.
