The Big Blind

This movie's target audience is poker players. It's not for people interested in cinema in general, simply curious about poker, or even non-poker playing gamblers. The movie would not make much sense to anyone but poker players.

This movie does not have high production values, excellent cinematography or music, or inspired sets. The direction is actually surprisingly good, considering that this a very low budget, independent, special interest film. It will only appeal to it's true target audience, to whom the story and the characters are the main attraction.

Do not be mislead by the aggregate rating... it should get the lowest rating from those to whom the movie was not targeted... and many of those people to whom the movie was not targeted saw it and graciously provided their (negative) opinion... a correct one from their point of view.

So, if you are a poker player, this movie will definitely appeal to you. If you are not, it definitely will not.

I don't get why people wouldn't like this movie.I think this is one of the funniest movies I've seen in a long time. Okay, it's cheap and the music sucks. But this is a documentary about poker. And poker is about the people. And this movie does a great job depicting types of people hanging around card clubs. In my opinion The Big Blind is the best movie out there to capture the essence of poker.

And I think it is an outrage that such a pile of monkey feces as "All-in" has more points than this piece of poker film history. This is hands down the best made poker documentary out there.

The writer/director of this film obviously doesn't know anything about film. I think the DP on this project was tied up and replaced with a monkey, because every seen was either too dark or had the hotter hot spots than the sun.

The story was awful, the characters were very one dimensional. For someone to have said that this film was made for poker fans and not film fans, that someone is kidding their self (it was probably the writer/director). No poker fan in this world likes this movie. Even your money man hates this project. To go into a casino and play a few hands doesn't give you the experience to write about poker. Keep your day job. And if it's playing poker, then you must be hurt'n.
