    Wrong year.

This film was produced and released in theaters in 1970 and not in 2016. The information that is next to the film that this film was produced in 2016 is totally wrong. Please, anyone fix it!

    Chaotic, Grotesque, Trashy and Experimental

Chaotic, Grotesque, Trashy and Experimental, this film has the look and feel of an early John Waters flick. OK, so no-one gets raped by a lobster, but there are some very unsavoury goings on.

It tells the warped tale of family relations and the struggle for the family inheritance on the imaginary island of Babaloo. Balu, the richest entrepreneur on the island is the producer of sardines, bananas, candles and is the boss of the place. He's married, but his only worry is getting new lovers. His wife, who is a kind of prototype Divine, divides her time between getting lovers and shopping.

Retarded offspring locked up in chicken coups, a toothless playboy, and eventually murder, all wait in store for the viewer.

The film was part of a Brazilian movement called 'Cinema Marginal' - which encompassed B- movies and underground experimental films and this film has elements of both. It was banned by the Military Regime in power at the time and brings together a cast that mixes actors and non-actors. The sound was recorded separately which only amplifies the demented nature of the film.

It supposedly constructs a metaphor of the wild Brazilian middle class during the military regime. But really, its just plain crazy.
