    Flintstones vs Dracula

Pure fun with the famous prehistoric families who win a trip to Rocksylvania. Some funny moments and lines will appeal to younger audiences better. But still it's only a 48 mins movie.Relax and enjoy.

Remember those movies you saw 300 times as a kid?

You knew it line for line, so did your parents, grandparents, brothers, sisters and any one that came to spend any longer than 2 hours at your house. Well this was one of those movies for me. If I had never seen it before and watched for the first time today, I would more than likely not be overly impressed, but since this movie is one of the things that incaptulates my childhood I can't say any thing bad about it.

One line summery: I can't remember doing up my shoes for the first time but I remember this movie... and my copy still works!

    Childhood memory

It took me years, and I mean years, to see this again on DVD from my local library. I remember seeing this special when I was five in 1979 and, maybe, as a repeat, in 1980 but after those years it never repeated again. I'd tell friends about The Flinstones Meet Rockula and Frankenstone and they would mock me but I had such fond memories of this Halloween special and getting to see it at age 50 for the first time took me back to a loving memory. Fun stuff. Dated? Yes. Still fun stuff.

    I yabba-dabba bid you welcome...

Admittedly, "The Flintstones Meet Rockula and Frankenstone" will only appeal to kids, but it's still fairly interesting. It basically has Fred, Wilma, Barney, and Betty winning a trip to Rocksylvania, where they unwillingly meet Rockula and Frankenstone. You see, the Count is convinced that Wilma is his bride.

As one might expect, the Count has an accent similar to Bela Lugosi's, while the Monster's speech mostly consists of growling. I watched this movie a few times when I was really young. At that age, I was able to appreciate it, but I can still understand why little kids would. It is worth seeing, especially since Mel Blanc was still doing Barney's voice.

    • Trivia
This special aired 9 months after the death of Ted Cassidy, who voiced Frankenstone. It was one of several posthumously released voiceover projects of Cassidy, who is best known for playing the Frankenstein-like butler Lurch on La famille Addams (1964), and reprised the role in voiceover format in La famille Addams (1973).

Fred Flintstone: [looking over the edge of the balcony] I can't see the bottom with all this mist. Hey Barney, want to jump down and see how far it is?

Wilma Flintstone: He'll do no such thing, Fred, it might be at least 30 feet!
