I caught this on a late night Canadian Broadcasting Corporation show that shows short films. It really caught my fancy. Stockton did a wonderful job in marrying his idea of a world where gravity has gone out of control with the techniques of film.
This is pantomime at its best. What little spoken dialogue there is really is superfluous. The actors sell the concept perfectly by gesture and expression.
Story wise the only downside to this is a lack of clarity on why the phenomenon is taking place and an open ending that might not be pleasing to everyone.
The lighting and camera work is wonderful. The editing, under cranked camera and drab set design contribute to pull off the illusion of weight.
Loved the snow angels at the end. The human spirit triumphs over adversity.

This was an excellent movie I just happened to come across as I was flipping channels on television. A short movie about a rather strange phenomenon that has taken place in which the gravitational force of the planet is suddenly subjected to varying degrees of change, and how it brings a handful of apartment dwellers and one postman closer together for a moment. The movie uses an absoloutely bizarre setting to display a rather touching and fundamental character trait of humans, that is, friendship. If you can find this movie, I suggest you get it, if only for the novelty of watching something so unique and different.
A very funny and touching short film. The actors, and director, do a wonderful job of portraying a world with an acceleration due to gravity of about 2 times that which we experience. Seeing them clomp clomp as they move through the difficult routine is funny. And the three guys working together to help the postie drag his mailbag up the stairs to the third floor is hilarious. I'm sure most women would relate to the woman who steps on the scales only to discover that her weight has shot up to over 230 lbs. A sci-fi film that doesn't rely on idiot alien shoot-em-ups, which, no doubt, explains some of the low ratings that it has received.
