            Cheesy Kung-fu Movie

far from the best I've seen, it features some weird nudity and a script that has no focus at all, but still it's entertaining. the ninja training camp is pretty cool. it's basically a war between the wu-tang school and shaolin, the wu-tang abbott(abbott white) teams up with a group of japanese ninjas to take over the region. two shaolin-descendant brothers take them on to reclaim the shaolin supremacy. it has some very cheap effects, and horrible acting, but the fighting scenes have enough adrenaline to keep you watching it through. you'll be walking around finger-jabbing your friends for a while after seeing it. but don't bother with this movie unless you're a hardcore fan.

            Serious martial arts film!

For fans of martial arts films, Ninja Hunter is satisfying on a number of levels. It's tone is set right from the start, fast paced and relentless. Abbott White, the evil Wu Tang priest is bent on destroying the shaolin temple and he's developped a special kung fu style to help him do it! Alot of great films of this era were filled with over the top comedy and sadly this film is no exception. somehow i feel if the bad jokes and potty humour were left out of this film it could have been a classic.

Aside from that, if there was an award for the most fights in a single kung fu film, Ninja Hunter would take the cake. There is a constant spat going on between the many characters in the film and believe me, this one has them all! Shaolin, Ninjas, Wu Tang, Flying Nuns and on top of all the great fight scenes, there's also several extensive training sequences with all the characters!

Another film that deserves a widescreen release! If you are a kung fu fan, this film is amazing fun and the sheer amount of fights make for dozens of repeated viewings. also has a ton of references to earlier kung fu films that are fun to pick out!

It's Born Invincible meets Ninja the Final Duel

I've just revisited this fondly remembered bit of cinematic madness from my early days, and must urge you to beg steal or borrow it.

The story begins with a duel between a righteous Shaolin priest and our villain Abbot White, needless to say, Abbot White kicks Buddhist ass, and wages his campaign against Shaolin unhindered with the aid of his new ninja allies (a golden clad one who fights with a gold ring, a black clad one who fights with a spear, and my favourite; one who fights with a pair of knives who can disappear and reappear as a flying carpet). The rest of the story concerns the training of the disciples of the Shaolin monks killed by Abbot white, one of whom is Alexander Lo Rei. Whilst we are treated to the punishing training sequences the two young avengers must go through to learn the Shaolin Finger Jab technique needed to defeat Abbot White's invincible armour technique, we see some of the ways our villain keeps in shape...mostly using Taoist magic to extract the blood from naked ladies. We all know how this is going to end, but it's the psychedelic trip in between that we're here for. In conclusion, this is a good example of what Taiwan was doing when Hong Kong was getting sick of martial arts movies, and that is making more and more outrageous martial arts movies. This movie is very well choreographed, has some nudity, some gore and enough balls to the wall gimickry to keep even the most jaded viewer entertained. Visit your local Beewise today!

Admittedly formulaic kung fu actioner but with superb fight scenes

Alexander Lou, star of classics such as 'The Super Ninja' and 'Mafia vs Ninja' headlines here in this entertaining martial arts fest.

The plot involves the evil Abbott White (who boasts some humongous and frankly somewhat scary looking white eyebrows) enlisting the aid of a ninja clan in order to overthrow the Shaolin Temple.

This goal he achieves and furthermore wipes out most of it's members, although needless to say, one or two do manage to survive and rather predictably go on to exact eventual revenge upon the miscreant Abbott.

....Ok so the plot isn't exactly pushing the envelope in terms of creativity but does anyone watching a film with a title like 'Wu Tang vs Ninja' aka 'The Ninja Hunter' really care much for such an inconsequential factor as a plot? Of course not! - It's the fights that matter in these films and by gum - you get your moneys worth here! There's some superbly choreographed martial arts on display from everyone involved in this and rarely a minute seems to goes by without a fight breaking out for some reason.

If your at all into martial arts movies then this is a must see!

            I miss "Beewise"

Back in my native South Wales, there used to be a store called Beewise which sold all manner of goodies at affordable prices.Including bottom of the barrel video junk. This is where i picked up a copy (sadly no longer in my possession) of Wu Kuo Jen's NINJA HUNTER starring competent leg fighter Alexander Lo Rei (also in Robert Tai's infamous NINJA FINAL DUEL).It's been a few years since i saw it, but suffice to say it does have ninja warrior bad guys who dissapear mid-fight scene and transform into killer magic carpets that fly through the air towards our hero. And if that doesn't make you want to see it,you've forgotten what cinema is all about.
