Better than People Make it Out to Be

People tend to give this anime a lot of flack due to its simple art, simple story and lighthearted tone, saying it conflicts with Final Fantasy's "mature, serious" appearance. Thing is, this is based on Final Fantasy V, a game known for its humor, and it was released long before the series made a name for itself as being "mature and serious". The animation looks just like the game art come to life, and is bustling with action. The music is wonderful, equaling Nobuo Uematsu's game work. And the story is a simple-yet-engaging hack-and-slash fantasy adventure that is fun to watch. The characters are fun and inventive, the setting is gorgeous... this is one of those anime that should be considered a classic, but isn't due to a number of boneheaded reasons. If you run across this, PICK IT UP! It's a great story, and you won't be disappointed.

    Amazing,explosive adventure

I absolutely love Japanese anime and I didn't really think that this would be too good when it said on it: CONTAINS MILD VIOLENCE - ACCEPTABLE FOR ALL AGES. Then I watched it and Wow! This is a great movie for fans of the genre it is also very action-packed! Forget the violence - for once think about action and a good fantasy story!

    Great action packed romp!

This mini-series is action packed and hilarious. The character designs, especially of Rouge and the captain of the Iron Wing (forgive me, I forget his name) are outlandish and fit the personalities. It's very faithful to the Final Fantasy games and much less serious.

    Good fun for all

Don't watch this expecting a strong, serious plot like many of the FF games, it's a very fun, action-packed mini-series with a sense of humor. I actually prefer this over the Alec Baldwin FF, even though this is clearly for younger audiences.

This one was much more like an actualy FF story. It had four very different lead characters (the cocky swordsman, the gruffy old soldier, the spunky tomboy and the innocent magic user), chocobos, air-ships, and crystals. The animation isn't the greatest in the world, but it's by no means not good. The action is very well done, but not overdone. The best part of the film is it's sense of humor, however. The film never takes itself too seriously. Some FF die-hards might think it's too light-hearted, but the best thing they can do is remember it's just a movie, and FF is just a video game.

To sum it up: What works: Good action, decent animation, a very FF story, and a sense of humor about itself. What doesn't: It's sometimes a little too light-hearted. Great scene: Trying to get a crystal to leave a girls body, a pirate forces the girl to drink lots and lots of prune juice. Rating: Unrated, but contains mild anime violence and some mild sexuality.

    Love FINALFANTASY? Watch this...

Do not listen to the morons who dont find the spirit within this great movie... if you have any love for the Finalfantasy games watch this! Ok so its oldscool(Visuals,music,plot...)but so are the games. The Japhumor is crazy as in most anime but their is peace to be found here also. The english dub is ok. As with the games, the thing you will be left with after seeing this is a Good,Chill feeling that you will want to experience again and again...
