Unbelievable plot, awful acting, the ads were more entertaining

A dysfunctional Dallas police family with a blonde bimbo daughter (who just happens to be a police officer ... unknown to her father !!!!!) chase a Dirty Harry style nutcase around a merry-go-round of circumstances each more unbelievable than the last. I found myself cheering for the perp. when he almost murdered the blonde. If the murder had taken place 3 generations previously we wouldn't have had to watch this rubbish.

    Deary me.

    Great Mini-Series

The dramatic Craig T. Nelson makes another wonderful dramatic lead character. This Mini-Series is one of the best I have ever seen. Nelson proves he can do comedy with "Coach" and Drama with "To Serve and Protect". Outstanding support characters and wonderful writing makes it a not-to-miss mini-series.

    Good Show

I enjoy your show but was disturb by what I saw. Why would a seasoned officer handle evidence in a case with bare hands (no gloves), the mace container. Why would an officer handle evidence without gloves. Not only was evidence contaminated but now the officer prints are on the container. The show I saw was aired on December 28, 2005 at 11:30 pm on SUN TV in Hamilton. It makes me concerned that this may be an avenue for the defense that the evidence was contaminated. Or are we dealing with a COST issued like rape cases ( unless you can identify our rapist the DNA is not tested) so a serial rapist can go undetected. The only way to identify a criminal is by EYE WITNESS identification which we know is unreliable.

    Based on Fact/Family movie

I always seem to enjoy movies/mini-series about families. Family is very important to me, my parents died young, but I do have my children.

I thought "To Serve and Protect" was an excellent family story and it was based on the life of Tom Karr (Craig T. Nelson's character), a Dallas police officer. I've seen much more wooden acting than this for sure. Many times I look for the novels movies are based on and buy the book if the movie is interesting enough.

John Corbett (Brad) was in "My Big Fat Greek Wedding." And he doesn't do so bad for himself if you look in his filmography. Craig T. Nelson was in "Coach" for years and "The District" did pretty well for itself. I enjoyed that series very much.

Richard Crenna has since died, but I think he was an excellent actor in the role of "Grandpa" going way back to "The Real McCoys." Maybe "Crap" would not be the description for this movie/mini-series if more people in this country would pay more attention to the credits in any film or television series and to "the details" in everyday life. "Stop and smell the roses" once in a while, think things out, look up the actors, see how much experience they have, watch some of their other films/movies/TV shows and maybe someone would not have called this movie "Crap."

    great movie

i really, really loved this movie. everything about it was perfect: the plot, the cast, etc. it is truly a sitting on the edge of your seat, biting you nails kind of thriller! i have never seen a movie before in which i literally could not stop watching the movie. it was that good. it was suspense mixed with tragedy and romance. I've read some of the negative user comments and i think those people just don't like suspense movies. it includes cheating, lies, death, and heartbreak. my kind of movie! very organized film. i recommend anyone who likes crime and suspense to definitely check this movie out. I'm actually going online now to try to buy it. i hope everyone else enjoys it as much as i did.
