The Accolade Sports Collection presents a curated selection of five titles from the publisher’s 1990s era. QUbyte Interactive has brought these nostalgic games to modern systems, enabling players to experience 16-bit sports games with updated features.
The anthology reflects Accolade’s approach to sports titles—combining simple gameplay mechanics with attempts at realism, sometimes constrained by technological limits of the period.
The collection includes Hardball, Hardball II, Hoops Shut Up and Jam, Winter Challenge, and Summer Challenge, offering a range of sporting experiences. From isometric baseball to basketball and Olympic-style events, these games demonstrate Accolade’s early exploration of varied sports genres.
The publisher never reached the same status as major companies like EA or Tecmo, yet developed a dedicated fan base among retro gaming enthusiasts. The collection’s lasting appeal remains a nuanced question for contemporary players.

The year was 2007 and Eddie Murphy, while on an awards season high from his performance in Dreamgirls, released a movie called Norbit to the masses. On paper, it had all the signature ingredients that have made his previous comedies resonate, and yet it was also all so wrong. The movie was a commercial success, but it was met with near-universal dismal reviews, and some out there think it cost Murphy the Oscar that year because it was released before voting closed for the Academy Awards. Whatever its legacy may be today, it's being hilariously rediscovered today and many are taking to Letterboxd to share their not-so-kind reviews of the film.
It's unclear why Letterboxd users are suddenly rediscovering Norbit, but it has been seeing its fair share of reviews within the last few days. The movie is available on Amazon Prime Video, so maybe it was an offbeat spooky season...

Keanu Reeves traded his action hero persona for a hockey jersey, signing a one-day contract with the Windsor Spitfires, a junior team in the Ontario Hockey League.
The John Wick actor’s brief stint with the Spitfires wasn’t about showcasing his on-ice skills, but rather to support a charitable cause. Reeves autographed team merchandise that will be auctioned off to benefit the Windsor chapter of the Canadian Mental Health Association.
While best known for his roles in blockbuster films, Reeves has a long-standing connection to hockey. Born in Lebanon but raised in Toronto, the Canadian citizen played the sport as a teenager and even considered a career as a goaltender before turning to acting.

The Underdoggs is an R-rated children's sports comedy starring Snoop Dogg as a former NFL player coaching a losing youth football team. The movie combines R-rated humor with twists on the kids sports formula to create a crowd-pleasing film. Director Charles Stone III was drawn to the project because of its portrayal of a Southern California blue-collar Little League and the transformative power of children's actions.
The world of children's sports comedies is getting an R-rated twist with The Underdoggs. The movie centers on Two Js Jennings, a washed-up NFL player who finds himself in hot water after driving recklessly in the streets of LA. Being sentenced to over 300 hours of community service in his hometown of Long Beach, he thinks he finds a way around it by coaching a losing youth football team, and a way to restore his career, only to realize he has a hard road ahead of him.

Everyone loves an underdog story. We love them as much as sports movies and precocious kids. The only other thing we love as much as those is profanity. When you combine those together, you have a tricky project that could be masterful, or it could be a disaster. Luckily, no one can drop an f-bomb quite like Snoop Dogg, and he does that in his latest film, The Underdoggs.
In the great tradition of The Bad News Bears, Little Giants, and Hardball, The Underdoggs stars Snoop as a washed-up former NFL wide receiver who has burned all the bridges in his career. With a chance to redeem himself by coaching a group of pee-wee football players in his hometown of Long Beach, Two Js encounters more than he bargained for, as coaching is much more than just standing around basking in your greatness. Hardball's accidental betrayal of the Avengers and Iron Man's plan led to Hulk's brutal defeat of the heroes in the World War Hulk crossover event. Hardball's blackmailed by Senator Woodman, a secret agent of Hydra, to steal a S.P.I.N. bullet, Iron Man's failsafe against the Hulk. Hardball's mistake of swapping the bullet out for a fake projectile resulted in Iron Man's brutal defeat, prolonged World War Hulk, and led to significant destruction in NYC.
Marvel's 2007 World War Hulk crossover event remains one of its best and most iconic, with an enraged Hulk brutally defeating the Avengers, X-Men, Inhuman, Fantastic Four, and pretty much every other major hero on Earth after the Illuminati betrayed him. However, Hulk's intense rampage would have ended much earlier if one Avengers' reject, the Initiative recruit Hardball, had not accidentally sabotaged Iron Man.

The 2000s were all about recovering from Y2K, wearing low-rise jeans and cargo pants, and listening to mixed CDs, though those eventually got loaded onto the new iPod. On television, reality TV got its beginning with the premiere of Survivor on May 31, 2000, and film franchises like Harry Potter, The Lord of the Rings, and Pirates of the Caribbean ruled the box office.
Movies in the 2000s also had some not-so-great trends, like torture horror (Hostel), raunchy frat boy comedies (Road Trip), and fat suits (The Nutty Professor), but the decade also came with some of the most beloved films of the last 30 years, including The Dark Knight (2008), Mean Girls (2004), and Iron Man (2008), which kicked off the Marvel Cinematic Universe. With all the incredible films released between 2000 and 2009, there are bound to be some that audiences have missed, and now is the perfect time to catch up.

In fifth grade, we once had a long-term substitute teacher for a science class, and he was a Cool Sub. He let us call him by his first name. He sat on the desk. He brought in a guitar (but never played it). He tossed out candy for the right answers. And most tellingly: he was a White Guy With Dreads. My feelings about him were mixed; I loved the chance for free candy, obviously, but even then I knew something about his persona, his approach to us kids was insincerely calculated, foisted upon us instead of shared organically. Dead Poets Society is a noted, beloved example of this "unorthodox educator inspires kids" subgenre my Cool Sub so wanted to be the protagonist of. This subgenre then took problematic detours into the depiction of overcoming racial and socioeconomic tensions via this hard-working, usually white educator. Films like Dangerous Minds and...

With its list of new releases for July 2023, Prime Video is going to help you stay safe from the oppressive July sun.
Highlighting the Amazon Originals on the TV side this month are two heavy hitters. The first is The Horror of Dolores Roach on July 7. Then season 2 of Neil Gaiman adaptation Good Omens premieres on July 28. This season will follow angel Aziraphale (Michael Sheen) and demon Crowley (David Tenant) as they seek to keep the Archangel Gabriel (Jon Hamm) away from both heaven and hell.

First appearing in an episode of The Sopranos, Michael B. Jordan has been appearing in blockbuster and highly acclaimed films since 2001. It takes a special kind of talent to have the physical ability to lead a sports franchise and the quiet introspection to play in serious dramas, but Jordan pulls it off. His success has been in part thanks to his partnership with another young star, Ryan Coogler, who has directed Jordan in four different films. Jordan used early dramatic film roles to launch himself as one of the preeminent franchise stars in Hollywood.
Jordan’s most critically acclaimed movies have seen the young actor playing protagonists, as well as antagonists. His parts, even when they’re more minuscule, have always had an attitude that makes his characters exciting and surprising to watch. He manages to be both off-putting in his self-confidence and sympathetic at the same time. It’s...

It’s just before noon in early February and Michael B. Jordan is settling into a director’s chair on the other end of a Zoom connection. He’s in Mexico City, preparing for one of the biggest nights of his life — the world premiere of his directorial debut, “Creed III” — an event that happens to coincide with Jordan’s 36th birthday.
“I’ve got my first movie premiere for a movie I directed. What bigger celebration can happen?” Jordan asks, thinking ahead to the frenzied fans who will await him on the red carpet later that evening. “It’s kind of crazy. I’m very grateful. I’ve had birthday parties, I’ve done my fair share, but this is something special.”

Prime Video got off to a fast start this summer with the release of The Boys season 3 on June 3. Now, as we enter the dog days, Prime Video is set to keep the warm weather good times rolling with a new twist on an old classic. That’s right, Amazon’s list of new releases for August 2022 is highlighted by some good old-fashioned baseball.
A League of Their Own, the TV adaptation of Penny Marshall’s 1992 movie, is set to premiere on Aug. 12. Like the movie before it, the series will dramatize the All-American Girls Professional Baseball League which saw women playing America’s pastime while the major leagues were on pause for World War II. Amazon’s series version of “A League of Their Own” will debut its eight-episode first season on Aug. 12, introducing new characters and stories set in the historical opening of the All American Girls Professional Baseball League (Aagpbl).
Ron Howard’s “Thirteen Lives” tells the real-life story of how a young boys’ soccer team was rescued from the Thai mountain cave where they got stuck for 10 days along with their coach.
Other new film arrivals include hits from earlier this summer, “The Lost City” starring Sandra Bullock, Daniel Radcliffe, Channing Tatum and Brad Pitt, as well as “Sonic the Hedgehog 2.” Academy Award-nominated film “Licorice Pizza” also arrives on Prime Video this month.

March 2022 is a great month for blonde women with cold, dead stares on Hulu.

This story about high-level corporate fraud is truly wild, enough so to accommodate several books, podcasts, and even an upcoming film starring Jennifer Lawrence. Chris Petrikin has stepped down from his role as executive vice president of global communications and corporate branding at Paramount Pictures. His exit comes on the heels of the announcement this week that ViacomCBS is replacing studio chief Jim Gianopulos with Nickelodeon head Brian Robbins. More executives are expected to follow him out the door during the leadership transition.

After Rachel Maddow signed a new multi-year deal with MSNBC and NBCUniversal, there were reports that she ultimately will scale back her schedule to as little as once-a-week. That would leave the network with the potential loss of the nightly show, with no obvious successor.
In an interview with Deadline after Maddow’s deal was signed, MSNBC president Rashida Jones was asked whether, with the new agreement, Maddow will continue to host her show five nights a week. “Her show will continue as she’s doing it now,” she said. “One of the things we are looking at is she is so interested and excited in doing things in so many different areas within NBCUniversal, so we are figuring out how to juggle all of that, but her show continues on.” As for the longer term, Jones suggests that details are still being worked out.

Two animated children’s projects and two live-action series will share in $3.2 million of production funding from Screen Australia.
Northern Pictures’ Tom Weekly Versus… and Werner Film Productions’ Surviving Summer are being made for ViacomCBS and Netflix, respectively, while animation offerings 100% Wolf: The Book of Hath from Flying Bark Productions and Kangaroo Beach Summer Special from Cheeky Little Media will both appear on the ABC.
Screen Australia’s head of content Sally Caplan said the funding reflected Screen Australia’s commitment to supporting quality Australian screen stories for young audiences.
“It’s important that Australian kids can see their stories and experiences reflected on screen and families around the country will be in for a treat with these new projects,” she said.
“Northern Pictures are going from strength to strength – building on the success of Hardball, they are now set to bring popular book series Tom Weekly to the screen.

Australia’s leading children’s producers are calling for a 20 per cent children’s sub-quota to be placed on streaming platforms, based on an overall 20 per cent revenue-based local content requirement.
The coalition, which includes production companies behind shows like Bluey, Hardball, Little J and Big Cuz, dirtgirlworld and Mako Mermaids, argues in its submission to the Federal Government’s media reform green paper that such a requirement would create at least 2,000 jobs and more than 60 hours of content.
“Even more importantly, this will ensure current and future generations of Australian children of all ages will see themselves, in all their diverse forms, on their screens alongside the masses of ‘foreign’ English-language content,” the group, which consists of 30 companies and calls itself Australian Children’s Producers (Acp), writes.
Acp agrees with the industry-led proposal that SVOD and AVOD services with at least 500,000 subscribers or $50 million in annual Australian revenue be...

After an Emmy win and both local and international success with Hardball, Northern Pictures is developing a new children’s project with one of its creators, Guy Edmonds.
Titled Dance Spies, the live-action series follows the exploits of a group of teens in a dance school as they secretly train in the art of espionage. To be the best dance spies they can be, they’ll juggle dance assessments and personal differences with epic espionage and in the field ops.
The project is being co-developed with Canadian production and distribution company Sinking Ship Entertainment.
Edmonds got the idea after watching a multitude of dance series with his two young daughters.
“The more I watched these shows, and I’ve watched a billion of them, something occurred to me… The dance world is ruthless. To be a hero in it you need to be tough as nails, uber disciplined and a top shelf athlete.

During a Friday morning discussion of Prince Philip’s death, “Fox & Friends” host Brian Kilmeade brought up Meghan Markle’s recent interview with Oprah Winfrey, saying the televised sitdown stressed out the late prince.
“There are reports that he was enraged after the interview and the fallout from the interview with Oprah Winfrey,” said Kilmeade, noting that the tell-all came as the 99-year-old prince was in the hospital. “So, here he is trying to recover and then he gets hit with that.”
The Oprah interview, Kilmeade concluded, “definitely added to his stress.”
During the interview, Markle and her husband, Prince Harry, opened up about their decision to step away from Britain’s royal family (Philip is Harry’s grandfather). The pair discussed the racism Markle faced and she revealed she had been suicidal at one point.
Some Twitter users were displeased with Kilmeade’s remarks.
