Those happy days of the childhood and the Republic

To see "Celia" is like to travel in a time machine to the past and to see how was Spain in the 30's.All we are identified with that young little girl critic with the adults' world and her imaginative troubles.Elena Fortún's books were a symbol for the kids of the Republic.During the dictatorship of Franco ,they were forgotten. Is wonderful that Jose Luis Borau recovered those books and made a series as wonderful as this.Everything what we see is is through amused and transgressor point of view of Celia,a rich and bourgeois little girl with a great heart, imagination and other's people to the understood ones of the adults, which takes her into funny troubles.Like Elena Fortún in its books did,the series introduces you critize social and adult through the vision of the girl, which very is guessed right and causes that the series the same pleases to adults and children. An example of this is the friendship of Celia with the young arab while all they reject it or to go disguised like the daughter of the crew member instead of going like a disguised rich girl of M.Antonieta.Any spanish boy of any time can feel late identified with the Celia's world, with those evening's lunch or those nannys as Doña Benita. That is what makes great to this series. The cast of the series is exceptional with actors like Ana Duato,Maria Luisa Ponte,Maria Isbert,Carmelo Gómez and above all the unforgettable Aurora Redondo as Doña Benita. The election of the girl protagonist was good too.Nobody could have been Celia better than Cristina Cruz with her face of crossbeam and her expressive blue eyes. The script of the series is of Carmen Martin Gaite,an exceptional writer and the direction of Jose Luis Borau was so good that is was recognized in a festival of television in New York. This TV-series was incredible and a great success in Spain in 1993.Celia is the little girl of Spain and i will always be a huge fan of her and her incredible world.
