Over Memorial Day weekend, "Lilo & Stitch" grossed nearly $150 million dollars, despite being a perfectly average movie (albeit one with questionably offensive plot changes from the original). On the holiday proper, it had the fourth biggest box office gross on a Monday, ever, surpassing films like "Spider-Man: No Way Home" and "Avengers: Endgame." It's unsurprising because A) it's a movie that has the benefit of being recognizable IP that sparks generational love, B) Stitch is so cute and marketable that he rivals Mickey Mouse in popularity internationally, and C) it had zero competition in a barren media landscape for younger audiences. Cartoon Network is being deprioritized, the G-rating has all but completely died, all-ages entertainment has been reworked to mean "four quadrant blockbusters," and the consequence is that children's entertainment is now in a state of cultural malnourishment.

Bill Nye is 67 years old now, but in most ways he’s still the same enthusiastic, charming, bow-tied dude who hosted the iconic 1990s series “Bill Nye the Science Guy.” Or you might know him from the Netflix science series “Bill Nye Saves the World.” But the trained mechanical engineer still has lofty goals in working to educate the public about the world of science and how it can spur them to take action to better their lives and save a vulnerable earth. “That’s why I did this show. I wanted to change the world,” Nye says on his ambitious and apocalyptic six-episode Peacock series “The End is Nye,” “I want people to take action.” Watch the exclusive video interview above.

Nye is the co-writer, executive producer and host of the docuseries that’s designed to scare viewers into seizing the opportunity to halt potential disasters before they threaten the planet.

Blair Tindall, the concert oboist whose 2005 memoir Mozart In The Jungle was adapted into a hit 2014 comedy-drama series on Amazon Prime, died of heart disease in Los Angeles on April 12. She was 63.

Her death was announced on Facebook by her fiancé Chris Sattlberger, and confirmed to Deadline by publicist Danny Deraney.

Tindall was an oboist for the New York Philharmonic, San Francisco Symphony, Orpheus Chamber Orchestra, and the Orchestra of St. Luke’s who turned her experiences in the classical music world into the best-selling and critically lauded memoir. She completed Mozart in the Jungle during a fellowship at The MacDowell Colony.

The book was optioned by actor Jason Schwartzman, who with his cousin Roman Coppola, director Paul Weitz, and Broadway director Alex Timbers created the Amazon series. John Stamos has been cast as the voice of Iron Man in Disney Junior’s “Marvel’s Spidey and his Amazing Friends,” while the preschool network has also added Lou Diamond Phillips and Yvette Nicole Brown to the vocal cast of “Firebuds” and Justina Machado, Bobby Moynihan, Eric Bauza and Kari Wahlgren have joined “Pupstruction.”

The announcements were made Friday by Disney Branded Television president Ayo Davis, who revealed a slate of content for Disney Junior over the next two years, including new and original series, shorts, returning franchises and casting news. Netflix is celebrating Earth Month with a brand new collection on its platform.

Titled “One World, Infinite Wonder,” the new collection features over 170 titles that focus on the environment or climate change, from stand-up sets, nature documentaries and television dramas. The collection also features artwork from California-based illustrator Leonardo Santamaria.

The launch of the collection coincides with the release of “Our Great National Parks,” a new five-part documentary series executive produced and narrated by former U.S. president Barack Obama. The series explores national parks and wildlife across many different countries and continents, from Kenya’s Tsavo National Park to Gunung Leuser National Park in Indonesia. Other documentaries in the collection include “Our Planet,” “Animal” and “David Attenborough: A Life on Our Planet.”

Other prominent titles featured in the collection include the Oscar-nominated comedy “Don’t Look Up,” which uses a meteor striking planet earth as a metaphor for climate change.

A restraining order filed by U.S. TV star Bill Nye against his former fiancee has been dismissed.

Nye requested a restraining order against Blair Tindall last year (07) after she allegedly tried to poison him.

But Tindall states, "This temporary restraining order was simply something that Bill wrote out - it was never put into effect."

Nye originally filed his request last September (07) after spotting Tindall in his backyard. He claimed she was "trying to poison my plants including some vegetable(s)."

Tindall filed a response in November (07), disagreeing with the terms of the restraining order.

The case was dismissed in January (08).

Tindall, a Grammy-nominated musician, tells WENN, "There is no restraining order against me, nor has there been any legal action against me, ever."

Previously reported: TV star Bill Nye has requested a restraining order against his former fiancee after she allegedly tried to poison him. Nye, also known as Bill Nye, The Science Guy, sought the order in a Los Angeles court on September 4, after spotting his ex, Blair Tindal, dressed in black and acting suspiciously near his home. The order would prevent Tindal from coming near his California house and contacting him. The legal papers filed state Tindal "emerged from my backyard... carrying two plastic bottles filled with some sort of solvent. Apparently she was trying to poison my plants including some vegetable(s). She fled on foot and then a car sped away from the scene." Tindal had driven by his house twice in the previous three weeks. Nye also complained in an abuse report that Tindal "left a coffee pot on my porch" on August 16. However, Tindal filed a response on November 13, disagreeing with the terms of the restraining order. A hearing has been set for December 20.
