Why are such flicks still broadcast?

André Berthomieu is not what we call an auteur. His filmography is not particularly appealing.Once can save ,at a pinch ,"carré de valets " ,which was funny (in places) and "Gringalet" ,which had some moving moments.

Like in "Carré de Valets" ,the star is Jean Desailly:that such an earnest thespian was relegated to such duds is scandalous. He would prove with "le voyageur de la Toussaint" " Maigret tend un piège" and "la Mort de Belle" that he was much more than the "screenplay" he was given here.

Desailly portrays a supervisor, who always blushes : his students have nicknamed him "peony".Why ? because of the French expression "Red as a peony "="red as a beetroot" in English .

The plot consists of (very polite ) love affairs around the high school and the castle of the viscount of Coeur-Joli.The viscount is not prepared to accept a son-in-law of common birth, but the film will end in a very politically correct way.

As if it were not enough, there are horrible songs all along the movie.
